5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good cheap gaming board, replaced a spare brand new Asus board I had laying on my shelf, was no good straight out of the box, for the money , I buy more of these boards for budget gaming systems, booted right up without a hicup.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine, more or less

Pros: An inexpensive way to "get into" 64 bit, try it out, get more comfortable with 64-bit. It's been running 64-bit Debian testing for about a year, give or take. It works fine. It ran distributed.net for weeks on end, but I had to put together a improvised device that holds a fan over the northbridge/southbridge combo.

One of the main reasons I bought this board was that it has CPU overheat protection -- just in case the CPU fan stops working or something. I believe all Asrock products have that.

Cons: 1. You can hear the hard drive coming through on the audio. Fiddling with the volume levels can mitigate this.

2. The northbridge/southbridge combo overheats and then the mobo flakes out. You need to get a fan blowing directly on the Nvidia chipset somehow (I have an 80mm focused right on it). Not sure if it's worth pulling the heatsink and putting some arctic silver or a 40mm fan or something. Without a fan, it will overheat and slow to a crawl and then stop functioning altogether. With a fan, it can do "pedal to the medal" (SETI, distributed.net, etc...) for weeks on end.

3. I don't have as much confidence in this board as I'd like to have, but so far, so good.

Other Thoughts: Apparently this board can overclock, but I have not done that. I have definitely put the motherboard through some heavy usage, and it's held up fine.

Everything works on Linux - SATA, LAN, audio, etc... no problems there.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Budget MB and easy to install. Everything works correctly after installed. With K8 3400+, I don't have any complain so far.

Cons: I have two DOA from BIOSTAR in the past month. ASRock doesn't give me any trouble this time. I guess I am just lucky this time.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: I guess the feature to upgrade to a 939 chip would be cool if my board wasnt DOA

Cons: It was DOA. Poor quality. The input for the System LED was 2 pin instead of 3 (with a dummy) forcing me to break my wonderful 3 pin in half.
You sacrifice a PCI slot for the upgradability feature. All together lame board.

Other Thoughts: There are a million better 754 boards out there. I honestly dont know why I bought this one in the first place, lots of reviews said DOA and after I looked into sending mine back i noticed a nice DFI board for 10 bucks cheaper.
The 939 upgrade is ok but with all the new chipsets if you want a 939 board, might as well just buy one - the chips arent all that different in price.

3 out of 5 eggsNice, but....

Pros: Cheap, small, descent features.

Cons: This is the second time in six months I've had to get a replacement board.

Other Thoughts: If the board didn't keep dying, it would be pretty good.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Nice Board Here

Pros: Nice and small, almost half the size of a standard ATX board. Many complained about the layout but I personally found very nice (Mostly...). Everything fit together perfectly, it saw my Athlon64 3200+ just fine. Easily overclockable. Great BIOS.

Cons: Okay, about that layout. The bottom PCI Slot is worthless if you have a floppy drive as it covers the port when its occupied, no biggie I guess. The mount layout is slightly akward and ultimately left two screw-holes on the board unoccupied. Being so small, it was a stretch getting my front panel cables to reach the board!

Other Thoughts: Don't know if this is a pro, con or normal, but when I turned the PSU switch on the first time to computer booted :P. All in all, the pros far outweigh the cons. Great budget board!

5 out of 5 eggsNice cheap board

Pros: Easy to install. Boots up smoothly. Good board for the price.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this board with a little trepidation because of some negative things I'd heard. Reviews here on Newegg, however, were decent. I'm pleased with the purchase.

3 out of 5 eggsLong and painful story

Pros: - Great Upgrade path (Assuming it becomes available).
- Inexpensive.

Cons: - Poor manufacturing quality.
- Poor manual.
- Non standard connection for power LED.

Other Thoughts: I had problems with the first board that Newegg sent (could not get a POST and no BIOS beeps). Turns out it was my fault for not removing a post in my case from my previous MB. Newegg sent a new (refurbished) board and I figured out the post thing with this second board. If there had been an anti-corrisive seal on the board the post would never had shorted some of the solder joints togeather. The manual is written in 7 different languages so only the minimum information is included. ASROCK did respond to my second e-mail for technical assistance. However, their response was "take your stuff to newegg and let them help you out."

Overall: The board has been reliable. Newegg ROCKS when dealing with RMA's. But I would still recommend spending a few more bucks for a more popular board.
