With the excellent features inherited from previous ASRock products, the Intel 945P-based ASRock ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 motherboard delivers a simple but easy to digest upgrade path for the consumers looking to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo processor, and also Intel’s vaunted lineup of LGA 775 processors. With more than a few feature enhancements on ASRock's part, this budget Core 2 ready motherboard is just what the doctor ordered.
This feature-rich board includes a standard PCI Express x 16 slot in addition to an AGI Express slot for the installation of a 2nd PCI Express x 16 graphics card, or other PCI Express x4/x1 interface cards. 4 SATA 3Gb/s connectors with Intel Matrix Storage Technology and RAID support are provided by the ICH7R with 2 additional external SATA 3Gb/s connectors (eSATAII) included to satisfy even the most hardcore of storage demands. ASRock also incorporates Gigabit LAN, IEEE 1394 headers and 8-channel HD Audio into this motherboard to deliver an unparalleled digital experience.
Pros: IEEE-1394 (Firewire), PCI-E gigabit LAN, dual graphics including Crossfire, Conroe support, 4 DDR2 RAM slots, and on-board 7.1 audio for under $100? Sign me up! Has a 20-pin ATX power connector and 4-pin auxiliary ATX power connector, so you can use an older power supply that doesn't have the more modern 24-pin and/or 8-pin connectors.
Cons: AMI BIOS is terrible; offers few configurable options and very poor overclocking support. You can't adjust your Vcore at *all*. Spotty documentation doesn't have any descriptions of BIOS settings, but lots of info on setting up RAID. Has hard 300 MHz FSB wall, so a terrible overclocking board. Review at vr-zone.com has more details, but what they *don't* tell you is that for CPUs reporting 133 MHz (e.g. the very popular Pentium 805 D) this wall pops up at a mere 150 MHz FSB! Definitely not the board for anyone looking to overclock an 805 D. No rear IEEE-1394 port; you need to use a bracket in a PCI slot. (Not an issue for me since I'm not using the second PCI-E slot.)
Other Thoughts: Fantastic feature set and price point for anyone looking to run at stock speeds or a mild overclock. Most definitely not an overclocker's board due to low FSB overclock capabilities.

Pros: Easy install. Cheap for my Core 2 6300. Cheap for board with good features. Did not need to update the mobo, recognized Core 2, ram was Corsair, used a leftover video card and was good to go. Took about 70 minutes to install everything into case and boot os. Installed 2 sata drives Raid 0, was a breeze.
Cons: Don't get it for overclocking. ESATA does not work at all on mine. Manual is a joke. Only page useful is the first page of mobo map.
Other Thoughts: Pretty good for the price and Asrock has a pretty decent rep. Check out the open stock items, I've seen some at dirt cheap prices here w/free shipping.

I thing right now the cheapest Core 2 duo MB with ICH7R, Firewire, and PCI-E Gigabit LAN
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: - Great set of features - FireWire incorporated - RAID support - Gigabit Lan - eSATA - 4 DDRII slots up to 4GB - A lot if includded add-on hardware (cables, power wires, etc)
Cons: - no Video included for non gamers users. - Bios is kind of 'basic' - Front panel audio connector is very far from front pannel, my cable was not long enough to get the connector - If you use a PCIExpress x16 video Card, PCIE x1 slot will be unavailable because the card will cover it and there is no other PCIe x1 slot on this MOBO
Other Thoughts: Great performance with a Core2duo T6420 @2.13GHz, 512x2 Kingston Value RAM and 2 x WD 160GB SATAII in RAID-0 configuration.

Pros: Great mobo, supports xfire, can hook up alot of sata hardrives, use LGA 775 (woot for Core 2) and its CHEAP!!!
Cons: The manuel is very bad, the most usefull page was the map and Over clocking is hard(but is possible)
Other Thoughts: I've had this board for 5 months, i run two radeon 1900s off of it with no problem...well hafter a bios upgrade. dont really care to much for the boards color. All around a great board.

Pros: NOT Doa! Worked fine, eazy install. As with almost all boards I had to download the updated drivers(SATA2)to let XP recognize the HDD. It still(After 7 months) boots in less than a minute from PowerUP to production.
Cons: Rear i/o panel shield could be better, but it is sufficent.
Other Thoughts: I purchased the complete build from Newegg. I cannot comment on their customer service, because I haven't had to use it yet.(That says alot in my opinion) System assembled: ASRock ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 LGA 775 Intel 945P ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
