3 out of 5 eggs680i LT

Pros: This board was mid to low cost and seemed to have good features at the time i purchased it back in 2009

Cons: I had to RMA to evga 2 times. The first time the board just stopped posting all together which i traced to bad dimm slots. Second one the bios was corrupted beyond my skills to fix. And the board i currently have is again having problems with the dimm slots. The problem exists with any ram modules i add.

Other Thoughts: As I recall this was one of the early boards to support SLI and it was the lowest cost of the group. I ran this board with two EVGA 6800 gts gpus in sli because that was what i could afford. It worked well. I just had bad luck with EVGA mobos and have avoided them since.

I am giving three stars because EVGA did have excellent service and they even let me RMA the board when it was a few months out of warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsNot that it matters

Pros: Just going through my old purchases as I look to upgrade and I bought this motherboard 5 years ago for my Christmas present to myself. Well five years later and it's still going strong. I put in a new video card but new games are still too choppy and it's time to upgrade mobo/cpu/memory. I want to thank this motherboard for it's many years of solid performance, so this review is to pay homage.

Cons: None. Superb products from EVGA. Have had them replace two cards which had overheated within the warranty period, and then a replacement (7600GT AGP) for a replacement out of warranty but it was a refurb and it still works to this day in a lame duck server in the corner of my office. There is no cons in my mind to EVGA.

Other Thoughts: EVGA 122-CK-NF67-T1
EVGA 640-P2-N829-A3 (x2)
Mushkin Model 996557 (2x2GB)
added Corsair Twin2X4096-6400C5C (2x2GB) in '09

Not a single complaint until one of my 8800SSC's started burning out and then Planetside 2 came out and put my remaining card to shame.

Very greatful for my EVGA products and would buy another if they made the specific set of options I'm looking for, Quad SLI, 32GB, FX-8350. So back to my last manufacturer ASUS for the Sabertooth. Thanks EVGA was a great run, I still buy only your video cards.

4 out of 5 eggsNVIDIA nForce 680i SLI

Pros: Not very large, 2X PCI Express X16 slots, 1333 mhz FSB support

Cons: Still kind of pricey for an old MOBO

Other Thoughts: The XFX version is the same exact thing. I would have reviewed it but it isn't on this website. However, I got an excellent deal on my 680i. It came with my ULTRA ATX mid tower case along with an ULTRA 700W PSU for only $200!

3 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: I'm giving the overall rating a 3 due to the possibilities of the motherboard and the positives I have read.

Cons: Pulled apart my old system once I received my order. Assembled new machine, Go to boot the system, Wouldn't post. I purchased an Intel E8400 and had read I may need to update the BIOS. Called EVGA tech support and they said the BIOS must be updated in order for the CPU to be recognized. I did have an extra socket 775 to use at one time but forgot about spring cleaning. Had to bring the new system to a shop, Costs me $30 to find out the motherboard had been dead but found out all my other components are good. It is true as others have written that this motherboard is a gamble at the time of purchase. Currently RMA'd the board. Paid extra to have the "certified" board sent overnight. EVGA support assured me the "certified" board would have the latest BIOS for the E8400. We shall see.

Other Thoughts: As others mentioned, No manual. A peice of paper to get started on your connections to be made. As others stated too, Cramped connections. I won't be going beyond a 3rd RMA if that does come about, I'll give EVGA the benefit of the doubt on a first DOA.
I will purchase an ASUS motherboard. Of the many systems I've built, I've had one DOA with ASUS.

5 out of 5 eggsI like

Pros: It's been a few months and everything is still running. I've had no problems and everything booted fine on first try (after I realized the memory has to be in to get a picture, has it always been like that?)

Cons: Manual/lack thereof. And, I have have my LED on backwards so the power light comes on when the CPU's off, but it didn't come on when I had it correct. Not sure if it's the case or board.

Other Thoughts: I was between four and five eggs simply because this was my first build and any mistakes or difficulties I may have had could possibly be attributed to my lack of knowledge.
That seemed long-winded.

2 out of 5 eggs1st board DOA

Pros: *

Cons: Got the board DOA. I love buying a whole new rig set up and having to wait a week or so to get a new mobo and hope it works.

The mobo details being sparse and printed on a folded flyer should have been a tip off

Other Thoughts: I hope the second board works.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well with intel quad duos. Pickier about memory than other reference boards --- OCZ Reaper had an intermittent failure, but was replaced with another OCZ (non-Reaper) 8G set which have been stable for months. Good linux board.

Cons: Dethforce driver for the onboard ethernet is horrible --- abandoned it for pci-x ethernet cards. Documentation quite iffy, but that's a problem with all nvidia boards. Why the hell do these folks think that hiding technical specs is useful to anybody?

3 out of 5 eggssolid board once you get a good one

Pros: price, I got mine for 129.99 with mail in Rebate which was really quick to receieve which took about 1 month! SLI, 6 sata, Fans for bridges instead of heat sinks, Runs pretty good. 2nd board Read all my timings correctly! easy to install.

Cons: HAd problems with my first board, The 3 slot wouldnt read DDR2 6400 But it would work with DDR2 5300. About 3 weeks late, Bio Crashed, couldnt post completely dead.

Other Thoughts: EVGA EMAIL SUPPORT IS REALLY GOOD, The phone service completely sucks b/c it doesnt seem like people really know how to help you! They act like a geek that got picked on in High school with no social skills. RMA it through EVGA , paid 14.99 For there ADvance RMA process...Got a brand new board in about a weeks time.
