5 out of 5 eggsStill a decent card

Pros: Extra memory (compared to other video cards of the time) really helped it's longevity. Purchased back in '07 and still using it today in 2012.

Cons: Since AMD bought ATI, they've discontinued drivers for this card. Also, this card only has DVI, so I've been unable to get HDCP content to pass to my monitor.

Other Thoughts: I mostly play Sims 2, Oblivion, and BattleField 2 (even now in 2012). This card has been the one piece from my build in '07 that's lived on today. It was seriously the best money spent!

5 out of 5 eggsWhy spend more?

Pros: Great performance card! 512 ram. I run CS3 suite without any problems on a 22inch widescreen. Run Oblivion full res with any slight hiccup..smooth as can be. Plays great DVDs no problem.

Cons: A little big and you need a bigger power supply.

Other Thoughts: I don't understand why someone would pay x amount more for a "newer" video card where this one can play any game out there smoothly.

Reality is you can spend $200 more and get a video card that will run x amount of flops per second more but when it comes to actual game play you would never notice a difference. My system has this 1950 pro, I recently built a gaming system for a customer that is using a high end Nvidia card...in actaul game play you could not notice a difference, there were no screen issues on either end, one stayed with the other. However the high end Nvidia was $300 more.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff

Pros: good card for a 3rd of the price of high end stuff and gives good performance.

Cons: I dont know if its just me but the stock fan on it was loud as h@##. And wasn't sure how to turn it down so i bought a aftermarket cooler. and temps went from 51c to 39~41 c

Other Thoughts: after reading reviews i decided to try it out and it does seem like the best card for the price range.

5 out of 5 eggspoor little Viper

Pros: This is for Viper (about 6 posts prior)

Get a better power supply! If you think this card needs 650W you are mistaken. I am running a 600W XION Modular and have TWO (count them) 2 of these and they run like GLASS on full settings.

Cons: One card won't run Crysis on FULL settings, but Medium is still pretty sweet.

Also, not DX10 :-(

Other Thoughts: Viper, maybe you should spend more time as a support technician instead of a gamer. Seems you'd be better at it...

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Performance, Low Cost and Fun to Install: What More Could You Ask For?

Pros: I'm a first-time system builder, and I can't be happier with this new system, which must be one of the fastest desktop configurations available in the world today, costing 1/3 of what "Big-D" would have charged me. It is ATI Crossfire capable, but it makes child's play of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 with maximum settings -- with a single ATI card! With the multiple fans set to the Lowest setting, the system runs cool and quiet. Everyone that walks into my office says, "Wow, cool computer!" (okay, so I have it standing on top of my desk, instead of hiding it underneith). And I proudly say, "I built it." Of course I don't tell them that it was so easy that they could have done it, too.

Oh, and NewEgg ROCKS! I couldn't have done it without you! And thanks to all the NewEgg customers who took time to do reviews for the various components. The info along with NewEgg's detailed specifications really helped me select a high-quality set of compatible components.

Cons: Just remember to upgrade the Intel mb BIOS right away, and download the latest RAID BIOS floppies from Intel and use them during the OS install (some other NewEgg customers reported problems with the older BIOS & drivers). Otherwise, I have no complaints whatsoever. Oh, make sure to use the 8 flathead screws when mounting the motherboard. I used the screws with the flanges on them, and I think those were meant for mounting disk drives, since some of the screws didn't seem to tighten in the standoffs, no matter how many turns I put on them. There are 9 brass standoffs included with the case, but only 8 flathead screws, so you may need to use one drive screw. The motherboard had 10 holes, but I figured 9 mounting points would hold it in place well enough.

Other Thoughts: My config:

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor
- Intel BOXD975XBX2KR ATX Intel Motherboard (has 2 onboard SATA RAID controllers for max 8 drives)
- G.SKILL 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Memory
- SAPPHIRE Radeon X1950PRO 100196L Video Card (will eventually add a second card for Crossfire)
- 4 x Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drives in RAID 5 configuration
- (Eventually will add 2 x 1TB SATA drives in a RAID 1 mirror on the Marvell controller, and use the - eSATA port to connect additional external storage. The case will hold 6 x 3.5" drives.)
- Sony NEC Optiarc Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DDU1615/B2s
- Samsung DVD-RW/DL burner migrated from another system
- OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply (plenty of connectors & power)
- Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case (coolest case EVER, and easy to install)
- Microsoft Vista 64-bit Operating System

Have Fun!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card

Pros: I haven't had any issues with this card. I popped it in and basically haven't had any issues with it in the 4 months i've had it.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Worth your money, I got it when it was just under two hundred dollars.

4 out of 5 eggsgood mid-range card

Pros: For the price this card is great, and is a very noticeable upgrade from my old 6800. It doesn't run that hot(idles at about 49c), has higher clocks than most others for the X1950PRO, and runs pretty quiet too even while under load.

Cons: None, for a mid-range card this is an exceptional deal.

Other Thoughts: Its no 640mb card, but its less than HALF the price. Will still probably get a 640mb when prices drop, but thats only because I can't run two of these.
