4 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Awesome budget card. runs doom 3, half life 2, and world of warcraft without looking like mud. great for emulation. ATI catalyst control center is a good tool if you're hooking this up to a HDTV via a DVI to component converter, as some EDTVs have wacky resolution and refresh rate standards.

Cons: will not properly play .WMV movie formats out of the DVI and Svideo ports. not a big problem for me as windows media player sucks really bad, i just stick to quicktime and DivX. when you play a wmv out of any ports other than the VGA it comes out in about 16 fruity-rainbow colors and it looks like you're high on LSD.

Other Thoughts: looks great on every display i to hooked it up to. old tube TVs via the Svideo to composite converter (cant read any text but its ok for movies and emulation), the 4:3 EDTV in my bed room via component converter, and especially my HDTV running in 720p via DVI. a great card for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic inexpensive upgrade

Pros: I upgraded from a GeForce 2 MX 400 card to this one and what a difference! I can run all multiplayer games with no lag at near-max settings. Installation was a snap. DVI picture is great.

Cons: I haven't encountered any yet.

Other Thoughts: This is a nice way to upgrade your old system before spend the big $$$ on a brand new Athlon X2 64 with SLI, etc., etc.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent

Pros: I recently bought this card when my fx5600 died out. It is amazing. I can easily play games like Half Life 2 w/ reletively high settings, w/o any lag. very easy to install, and the price was amazing. Also came in a day early (thanks newegg). Good card

Cons: none yet

5 out of 5 eggsBest card for under 100

Pros: Have tried several demos. Flat Out driving sim looks great. Doom 3 looks good, must admit I am no good at the game. As I said in previous post, don't max out the settings and you'll be fine (what do you expect for less than $xxx).

Cons: None for the price.

Other Thoughts: Tried out the Trixx overclocking utility included on the CD. Got 3DMark03 up to 3555 (core 462.4, mem 249.8). This is the MAX that Trixx will OC the card. I will keep the clock at default as I don't see a need to OC and fry the card before I have to.

5 out of 5 eggsGood upgrade for the money

Pros: This is a great card if you are on a budget (and who isn't today). Will play most current games if you don't max out the resolution and eye candy settings.

Cons: None in this price range. Just wish I could spring for the 9800PRO, but my budget was 100 bucks so that limited my options.

Other Thoughts: This card rules compared to my old 9000PRO. Old 3DMark03 score was 1069, now it is 3166. I'm not a heavy gamer, but I do like Tiger Woods 06, and the old 9000PRO was just barely up to the task when I turned down the res and color depth. I let the game control the eye candy options. After installing the 9600PRO I first fired up TW06 and saw a big improvement even after upping res to 1024x768 32bit. Haven't tried OCing yet, but I may later.
By now most people know NEWEGG is #1. Ordered Sunday AM and shipped out that evening. UPS 3day was slow, took 4 days to my door.

1 out of 5 eggsHeartache's galore

Pros: Great stats and price

Cons: IT DOESN'T WORK!!!

Other Thoughts: After a successful install I had crash after crash after crash, tried loading numerous different drivers and researched my heart out on the Internet. If you do a search for "ATI 9600 enable write combining" you will get a host of information that this card has had problems with. They offer all kinds of solutions; however, like so many others out there, none of them worked until finally, the card just stopped working all together. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this card, I love ATI products but this was a huge disappointment, I've heard great things about the ATI 9550 so will give that a try.

Newegg's return policy is something to be desired, I have to pay a restocking fee for a defective card, what a bummer.

5 out of 5 eggsPrice vs Performance

Pros: Very Effective. Very similar in power to the Radeon 9800 and no where near the heat or power requirement of my HIS IceQ Radeon 9800 Pro 128DDR! Runs at 90 to 95 when running DOOM 3 or Farcry.

Cons: The heatsink could be a better design. (but it surprisingly works((mainly due to good build of GPU)))

Other Thoughts: Worth the time to check out, there are some reviews on it(mainly good ones).
