5 out of 5 eggsAwesome AGP CARD

Pros: 256 bit
cheap(not when i bought it)

Cons: fan on cooler is a little fussy but that's cuz i took it off and put it back on a little wrong, fixed that and no problems. It gets hot to the touch sometimes. Outdated pixel shader technology.

Other Thoughts: great old card
in cs:s stress test i got an average of 101fps with highest settings other than AA and AF
system
Athlon 64 3200+ socket 754
2X512 2-3-2-5-1T ddr400 ram

4 out of 5 eggsabout the best AGP possible at a decent price

Pros: this is one of the best performing AGP cards. comparable to the lower end of pci-e cards. easy to install. i crank up graphics pretty hard on an average system right now and get decent performance out of this puppy. nothing spectacular, but decent enough to play HL2 and other title games without many problems. many fewer artifacts compared to my onboard video during movies.

Cons: -others have complained about a poor fan and i will agree. mine rattled when i got it so i took it off and checked it out. one of the screw holes was cracked and fell off (cheap plastic). luckily the other two are still good. it's still a little noisy on startups, but seems to calm down so it doesn't really bother me when my speakers drown it out.
-it does take an additional power cord from your PSU. since i was running dual HD's and disk drives, i had to get a splitter to power em all up at once. not really a con, but something to think about.
-AGP is going the way of the dinosaur, plan accordingly!

Other Thoughts: this item is for those who are not going to be upgrading to pci-e in the near future. it's a good way to squeeze a little more out of an older more average system and for a fair price! for those expecting to upgrade their motherboard soon, put this on hold until you can do pci-e. it is the immediate future of graphics cards.

2 out of 5 eggsMy fan also died

Pros: Good price point when I bought it.

Cons: As the previous reviewer pointed out, flawed cooler design means that mine also failed, after eight months. Just snapped right off and fell to floor of the case. Hmmph.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully I'll be able to warranty it.

2 out of 5 eggsFlawed design

Pros: Good performance over all

Cons: Flawed cooler design (died after 4 months)
Graphics corruption
Bad driver support
Sapphire Tech has horrible customer support

Other Thoughts: While New Egg has been great replacing my card as soon as it started to have issues. I am on my 2nd card since I bought it, and now this one has gone bad. The stock cooler on this card is horrible. And if you play WoW this card is just a bad idea, it will develop VPU errors all over the place. To play WoW I have had to use year old drivers to get around the problem. This card, and its driver support are horrible.

5 out of 5 eggsA King in it's own time

Pros: I've had the 9800 Pro for 6 months now and it's still powerful for a killer price. It was an easy flash to 9800XT. I play Far Cry, Halo, NFSU2, Doom 3 & CS: CZ at at least 800x600 with all settings maxed out.

Cons: It was a King in it's time. It can be easily smoked by any newer cards and will be bogged down by the newer games.

Other Thoughts: I'm running an Athlon XP-M 2400 @ 2.2ghz, 1GB OCZ Dual Channel. Great for a tight budget rig or a lesser gaming rig.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fantastic card- graphics are crystal clear, smooth transitions, quiet when running.

Cons: Overheating problem- I had to send mine in for replacement b/c the fan broke and the card caused 3 critical shutdowns on my computer if I didnt have an external room fan blowing on it.

Other Thoughts: Great value, if you buy it I recommend replacing the heatsink and fan with an aftermarket one.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Comments: This board is in an older 815eea chipset board, and it seems to be working great. I am running an older game, Max Payne, at 1024x768 all details on high, ansiotropic filtering, and 6x trueform sampling.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent card

Comments: 9800pro rocks, flashed mine to 9800XT, may not be a good buy now that there are price drops on the 6600, but if you can get this for less than a hundred dollars, DO IT

5 out of 5 eggsStill good for the money

Comments: I bought this to save up some money for my next board which will be 939 and a better graphics card as well.

After putting this on my new socket A board it hasn't given me a hiccup. This does run a tad on the warm side for me. If you can afford it, I'd suggest getting a zalman cooler for it if your case can fit one in it.

Other than that, still a good card if your on a budget or just waiting another 2-3 years to switch to pci-e.
