2 out of 5 eggsDied after 5 weeks

Pros: Great card, good performance...offers among the fastest performance you can get with AGP, the card even does better than the X1600 for alot less money. Check out benchmarks at www.tomshardware.com. I also got fairly good OCing with this card

...unfortunately....

Cons: The card died after a little more than a month. Very odd crash, totaly and complete failure. I suspect a chip cracked or fried on the card. The card wasn't heavily OCed, and only rarely (only when playing Oblivion), infact the card wasn't even being used, my PC was idle and I was on the phone when I notice green lines all over the screen, followed by digital static, I went to turn the machine off thinking a driver error occured, but before it could boot down the screen went blank, and gave a No Input notice upon rebooting.

I checked for warranty, Saphire does their warrenty through ATI, and ATI gives a 1 month period for hardware failure support for all non "built by ati" products. Newegg returns are also 1 month. The Card died after 1 month and 5 days. I was very bitter about it and I'm avoiding Saphire from now on due to their unexisting warranty and support.

2 out of 5 eggsfried in about 6 months

Pros: Lasted for a while...

Cons: Card started producing artifacts in about 6 months, my old FX 5500 has lasted about 3 years solid, I guess the shelflife has hit a new low. Oh and NVIDIA cards get fried too, my 6600GT fried in about 6 months.

Other Thoughts: The sapphire support site is so old, dont expect service, unless you have a brand new card or like a Radeon 9600.

5 out of 5 eggsBest agp card around

Pros: This is one of if not the best AGP card out there. It will give you another year or maybe two on your aging system. Most can be unlocked to 16 pipes. I have owned this for over a year now and have it flashed to x800xl bios 16 pipes and 430mhz for the core and 548mhz mem or 1096mhz ddr mem

Cons: Nothing, people complain about heat or the fan being too loud... So change the fan, put an antic fan on and it will solve both problems noise and heat

Other Thoughts: my computer
asus p4p800-e
P4 3.4 northwood HT @ 3.7
2 gigs 400mhz ram
sapphire x800gto unlocked x800xl
120gig 16meg 7200rpm sata

1 out of 5 eggsNot as good as you think

Pros: It work for 1 day if that?

Cons: for under 1 day. What you have here is a card that well die out on you at some point. The question is before the warranty ends? or after? that is the real trick.

Other Thoughts: P.S sapphire charges for there warranty service/ called a processing fee?

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Superb image quality - this is a big jump from the 9600 this card replaced! Although I haven't unlocked all 16 pipes, the screen quality with 12 pipes is amazing. Use ATITools to monitor the GPU temp, it allows you to control the fan speed - it's an invaluable program. NewEgg is where it's AT!

Cons: Heat, but it's not that big of a deal .. max temp is about 55C on my system (AMDXT3000 oc to 2177, 1.2G mem, MSImain, Creative Audigy 2 ZS, Maxtor 39G & 78G)

4 out of 5 eggsI'm happy

Pros: Nice card for the right price, < $xxx. I tried an X1600 Pro first from another vendor for $xxx, and this is by far a better deal. Not ready to upgrade to a pciE system, so this is a GREAT cheapo upgrade alternative.

Cons: Using stock fan/cooler. It's somewhat loud.

Other Thoughts: I ordered the retail version from NewEgg. Ordered on Monday, received on Thursday.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card for the money

Pros: This card is a very good deal, and it becomes great if you unlock the 4 pixel pipelines. People who buy from newegg seem to be getting the unlockable one (some can't be unlocked) so you've come to the right place.

Cons: It can get really hot. Mine was getting up to 105C when I decided to replace the stock fan with an arctic cooling silencer 5. That brought the temp down, leaving me with not complaints whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: It is a bit big, and with the new cooler it's huge. Still, if you have AGP and you want to play Oblivion, Fear, Prey, etc, this is your card.

5 out of 5 eggscan you smell ownage?

Pros: Fantstic video card for the money! This card is easily the best agp 8x card on the market. I run F.E.A.R., Battlefield 2, Half-life 2 all on 1024x768 resolution with options maxed out. Need For Speed: Most Wanted runs a solid 40+ fps on 1280x1024 maxed out! I did come from a 9250, but I have also seen the performance of an x700 pro and an nvidia 6800 gs, and this easily outperforms. Can and will handle any game for the next year or two for sure!

Cons: what everyone else mentioned... card is a bit long, but seeing as how i could fit three hard drives resting on the bottom and this card into a standard case, space shouldn't be much of a problem. some people mentioned overheating issues: i have one 90mm fan in the rear, and one pci slot fan directly underneath, and the card tops out at 70 celsius. i barely have any airflow in the case, so overheating is the owner's fault! The built-in fan is a little loud, but you don't hear it until it's above 85%, and my card never got that high up on the temperature scale to trigger that.

Other Thoughts: I didn't even open the CD for the drivers - waste of time. Go on the ATI website, download those drivers and you're good. Trixx is also a waste of time - ATITool gets the job done: overclocking, fan control, even some integrated catalyst controls.
obviously, if you have pci-e, go for that. but if you want a powerhouse of a card on a tight budget (sadly no sm 3.0), then this card hits the spot. I vaguely remember someone saying this card didn't have HDR support - wrong. Half-Life 2: Lost Coast looks absolutely amazing with HDR on full. If you also plan on getting Vista, this card can support that Aero thing (the one that requires a decent video card). Shipping was great, and much thanks to Newegg, who have produced results again and again. Remember, once you know, you Newegg!
