not bad
- Pros: 512 mb of ram good for higher resolutions 256 bit interface (pretty much unheard of for under $xxx
- Cons: mine died on me after 3 months just shipped it back to newegg expecting a replacement in about 1-1.5 weeks.
the fan is ridiculously loud. it winds up at weird times as well the fan is also huge... the card takes up 2 slots leaving me with only one open pci slot (micro ATX mobo)
- Other Thoughts: not bad worth it if you are on a low budget
Powerful but Deafening
- Pros: I got this back in August 12th, 05 and man, was it a great card! Overclocks excellently, from 400 core/490 mem to 490 core/570 mem. I can play Oblivion at max settings at 1024x768 except shadows and HDR (obviously)!
- Cons: The fan is deafening. I thought I had a noisy computer before, but this takes the cake as the noisiest thing I've ever heard! It sounds nearly exactly like a vacuum cleaner.
- Other Thoughts: The X850 is, as of today, the better buy. Back when, it was a beast, and still is. If only the fan didn't run so loudly.
too good for the price
- Pros: this card is awesome i can play fear at maximimum settings at it only lags for like a millisecond when it autosaves...I can play doom3 at ultra high 1024x768,UT2k4 highest settings with 32 bot doesnt lag,cs:s when i do the video tress test with all settings on and maxed out including HDR i get an average of 78.4 fps and with all settings on low i get 170-180 fps while im playing, same thing as HL:2 and DOD:S,quake4 on the highest settings doesnt lag at all bf2 all highest settings no lag what so ever..(akk games tested with a amd athlon 64 3800+[only $145 now awesome price] and t gigs of ddr400 twinmos ram)pretty good system but im upgrading it when the newer games come out like crysis.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: whoever says this card is loud is stupid, its only loud when u first turn the pc on or if u have the fan speed at 100% all the time, mine is set at 9% and its at 50,i turned up to 100 and it went down to 38 but i couldnt take the noise.
