Well, it could be worse...
- Pros: It is a pretty decent card for the PCI slot...
- Cons: It is a very poor performer for most gaming, which is what it was designed for. It's also very expensive. The average consumer would be better off going without a video card, saving their money, and purchasing a whole new setup rather than this card, and the money they saved on this product would be a large chunk of the new purchase.
- Other Thoughts: If you absolutely MUST have a PCI vid card, buy this one. That is the situation I was in. However, if you can wait a few months, save some money, and buy a MoBo with a PCI-e (or even AGP) vid card slot, your money would be greatly better spent.
Not Compatible With My System
- Pros: Only DirectX 9.x PCI card that I could find that supports 1920x1200 over DVI
- Cons: Doesn't work with my set up
- Other Thoughts: I have a Shuttle ST20G5. Using an ATI PCIe video card with the onboard ATI integrated video allows both to work in conjuction (to provide triple monitor support). Using a non-ATI video card will disable the onboard video, which was expected when I upgraded from an ATI x800 to an nVidia 8800GT video card. I have tried various PCI video cards with the 8800GT, but have not been successful in returning to my normal triple monitor setup. I think this is more of a problem of my system's compatibility than the video card itself though.
Decent Card
- Pros: This is probably the best PCI video card out there. It plays COD4 on low settings. Plays FEAR on all of the highest settings.
- Cons: It's PCI, meaning it's dead technology.
- Other Thoughts: It's not really worth $90 but if you need something to hold you over until you get a new system, than this would be good.
System: Pentium 4 2.8 ghz, 1.5 gigs of Ram.
