6800XT (AWESOME)
- Pros: I made a review earlier about unlocking all 16 pipelines. It worked fine in Aquamark 3, but it more advanced games that used all the high-tech nonsense, it had artifacts, so it works with 12 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders, not 16 pipelines.
- Cons: NONE
- Other Thoughts: From previous review -
"Not a 7800 GS and no temprature sensor but still 5 stars all the way!!!"
It does have temp sensors for the GPU and memory. Just use SmartDoctor that comes with it (or download it), and you'll get all the info including voltages and fan speed (adjustable).
Best Bang for the Buck $$$$
- Pros: Awesome card for the price!! I was able to unlock just like many others to 12 pipes and 6 vertex shaders! Runs quake 4 better than I imagined it could! Great upgrade from a radeon 9600xt! Great choice for a final agp purchase.I chose this one over a 6600gt because I had heard bad things about the 6600gt's and nforce 3 boards like mine.
Current setup: Athlon64 3000+ venice Asus K8N nForce3 250 512mb corsair value 2.5 latency WD 80gb Asus 6800xt sb audigy cooler master musketeer guages aspire case with clear aspire 500w power supply
Best card I've used since my geforce4 ti4200. I'll never use ati again...EVER!!
- Cons: No real con for me. Kinda big and awkward to fit into my aspire case though. However, I love its size because it catches people's attention at lans.
- Other Thoughts: Ok people. If you're a competitive gamer this card will be just fine for you. This isn't just a "casual" gamers card. I know very few competitve gamers that play games with all the eye candy on. They want a card that will run well on reasonable settings to get the most out of their box so as to be successful. In my mind, this card is WAY better than 6600gt's, mainly because of the differing gpu core. This IS a 6800 and can be unlocked to a 6800 vanilla with ease, maybe even to ultra. I get constant 60+ fps in quake4 with this card, with better visual quality than I did before with my 9600xt. My cfg is tweaked to get the most fps as possible, not to have alot of useless eye candy making me lose focus on my opponent. Same thing in CS:S. Don't pay extra for the 6600gt's folks. Use the extra cash for more ram and get one of these sexy cards!!! Unlock it and be happy!!
Great Buy for the money
- Pros: This i an awsome card. i was able to unlock it to 12 piplines and 6 vertex shaders with no problmes. very HIGH quality product. the blue LED is cool and looks good with all my other blue LED's. run farcry at very playable framratre at very high settings. scored 42 on aquamark 3 with no overclocking just the extra piplines and vertex shaders.
- Cons: Not a 7800 GS and no temprature sensor but still 5 stars all the way!!!
- Other Thoughts: Amd Sempron 2600+ 1.83ghz
