5 out of 5 eggsAffordable Performance Power

Pros: First off, I've not encountered most of the problems others had mentioned in some of these reviews. Fortunately it's true that the EAX1600XT shines in Half-Life 2--which can be played quite smoothly with the settings maxed--and the fanless design is welcome. Its extreme affordability is primarily the reason why I rate it as a "5," since this card has outperformed any other I've seen within the same price range. I give a huge thanks to Newegg for their prompt delivery and excellent service! I am not disappointed. ***Highly recommended for serious players on tighter budgets***

Cons: With most other newly-released games--such as Prey, Quake 4, F.E.A.R., or even Doom 3--you may have to turn the settings down in order to achieve smooth performance. It isn't Crossfire capable, but for anyone who has a PC with only one PCI-Express 16x slot--like me--this is not a problem.

Other Thoughts: For a Crossfire setup, you might consider going with two Radeon X1600Pro cards. The Pro has lower specs, but put together, they would likely outperform a single X1600XT.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good bang for your buck!

Pros: This card is cheap and is silent. A nice note about this card is that because its silent that means no fan witch means less power draw. Im using now a 305watt power supply and i could use a lower watt one if i wanted. Another good point to this card is the image quality is far better than most. Then the speed , my system is not optimal for it however, I have gotten 60 fps in half life 2 at 1280x1024 with max aa and af consistantly! Finally the goodies that come with the card. This card comes with a long avivo cable and some games to keep you busy.

Cons: Now for the bad points. This card has a 128 memory interface not 256 and this card does not have the performance to play every game out there at max by it self*

Other Thoughts: Note the *, this card is not a monster at game by it self how ever it is cross fire ready witch means if you feel u dont have enough power for your game simply snap in another one. And it does not use an external cable to do so like the higher end x1900's. Overall I was very impressed with the cards performance and value and give it the five golden egg out of five.

4 out of 5 eggsSecond card works

Pros: Silent, Cool if you have adequite case ventilation.

Cons: I had to have it replaced because the first card I had locked up in game play. Can not run Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter at highest settings.

Other Thoughts: I should have held out for the Asus 7600GT silent. Its more expensive but a better performer.

3 out of 5 eggsHalf-baked

Pros: Fanless

Cons: Using this card with a NEC MultiSync CRT screen. I kept adjusting the screen size after installing the ASUS card not realizing first that the total screen size keeps changing with this video card! As it warms up the screen gets smaller - quite noticably so. I know it is not the monitor as it is rock stable on my other computer.
Very annoying. Keep this in mind if you are planning on using a CRT monitor.

3 out of 5 eggsFragile design

Pros: Passively cooled card: no fan, no noise. VIVO capability

Cons: The first card I received ran very unstable. Turns out the heatpipes disconnected from the gpu causing the card to overheat. Design is somewhat flimsy for the big heat sink. Newegg replaced the card without any problems. Still have to see how the replacement card will perform. Good thing this card has a three-year warranty

Other Thoughts: This card requires sufficient air flow in your case as it creates a lot of heat

2 out of 5 eggslocks up in gameplay

Pros: Quiet

Cons: Locks up when playing games, otherwise works as it should.

Other Thoughts: I had to get a return authorization. Will ship to Asus tomorrow. I will update this review if the replacement works.

4 out of 5 eggsRuns hot

Pros: High performance for the price/no fans

Cons: Runs really hot. This card raised the temperature inside of my case 20 degrees. When running games/movies the heatsink becomes too hot to touch.

Other Thoughts: My case is fan-less (watercooled) so that may be why the 1600XT raised it 20 degrees inside the case.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat card

Pros: Quiet, runs cool and fast. This replaced a sapphire x850 pro that pooped on me, it runs almost as fast as that one did. Decided to go with this one due to it being a Asus brand, crossfire ready, PS 3.0 and is quiet. Very happy!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: 256 bit ringbus actually helps out in newer games. I can run 1280x1024 with all seetings maxed on FEAR, CoD 2 and BF 2. Good card for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGet it while you can (3rd Review) P***hel*a Surround Gamers - Rejoice

Pros: Anyone who bought into the Pa*r**lia, and misses 3 screen surround gaming - well not only can you do it now with this card, but most ATI x1000+ models. Just check your bios for "surround video) - this is not the same as "hydra*****". It is bios driven from the mobo - in other words, you could have 3 1920 x 1200 monitors maxed out in surround mode, using DX9+ - full stretched desktop. The example I tried was MS FS, but the onboard GPU (dual VGA out) was x300, and could not keep up with the X1600, so I swapped them out for map mode, but it was still playable in regular mode, just that the side views would play "what was behind me", while main screen would be in real time. But on a SLI (crossfire rig, with crossfire disabled and surround enabled - I've seen a few - check Asus and MSI) you'd have 5760 x 1200 (or higher) surround gaming - if you can afford the monitors. Of course, i got this rig for business-I discovered the surround gaming abilities and used them purely by accident.

Cons: Asus drivers - coasterize them, but keep the nice leather CD/DVD rom case that comes with the card. This card works best with standard ATI drivers, and with 3rd party accelerators.

Other Thoughts: The ultimate sleeper - and now $20 cheaper. I hate being an early adopter (Pay and Pray), but this time Zeus answered in spades.... this thing is like a Dodge Neon with a Hemi in it... and thanks to ATI (and surrouned enabled ATI-based mobo), has true hardware based surround abilitiy (Read the Friendly Manual [gotta love NewEgg's autocensor] prior to purchase of any mobo you see ATI on, not all of them have "Surround video" in bios) Check the alignment of the memory with the video slot too (and other tall components, if crossfired or not) - the heat pipes may ruin your day. For those bummed about dual slot cooled cards - the fins are on the right side, leaving your slot(s) open (except one, maybe, in crossfire). Very happy with it.
