Good card
- Pros: Works well, runs cool, can barely hear the fan when it's running 100%. Good value for the money
- Cons: I'm still waiting for my rebate to come that I mailed in JUNE!
Great Quiet Card
- Pros: This card has done more than I could have asked, especially with my 24" monitor running 1900x1200. I though certain games would not be good at that resolution, but I've been able to run things like Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, and Mass Effect. Also you wouldn't believe how well I can run Plants Vs Zombies! I just bought a second to crossfire, so we'll see how that works, but now for less than 90 bucks each, it should be an incredible upgrade! Also, when you utilize the Catalyst Control Center, or other aftermarket tools, you can get solid fan control to keep this thing running nearly silent, and the temps are always low. I idle at 42C and when running games it only gets into the mid-50s. I don't know why more card manufacturers don't work to make silent coolers that are this effective.
- Cons: Can't think of too many bad things to say, but we'll see once I am done with my crossfire experience.
- Other Thoughts: I don't want to list this as a con, because it's against the warranty conditions, but this card didn't overclock well! But I see they've added some extra power supply stability nubs on the card, which mine doesn't have, so perhaps that will make it a better overclocker.
Freezes up randomly
- Pros: Can't give any because I haven't been able to run any games with it.
- Cons: Freezes at an idle Windows Explorer desktop. Freezes faster if you run the ATI control panel or sysinfo. It generally behaves itself until dual-screens are set up.
This is on a stock/re-imaged Lenovo desktop system that ran my old GeForce 8600GT without any problems at all.
This video card is the only card installed - everything else is integral. I tried the MSI drivers and the ATI drivers.
- Other Thoughts: MSI support website has a long long LONG form that takes forever to load and fill out. Once all that information is typed in, the server hangs. Tried this with IE and FireFox - the same system that browses this page fast as I type in this review (on a different system, of course).
It is frustrating to have to jump through all of those website hoops just to the web page crash on you many times. I'm returning this to NewEgg because even the AUTOMATED MSI tech support system is unworkable.
The FAQs on the MSI site are not meant to troubleshoot video cards.
Oh yea, and the fan is loud too.
