Awesomely fast but has issues
- Pros: FAST! FAST! FAST! Overclocks nicely (with lots of airflow) With Athlon X2 4800 I got 8045 in 3D Mark 2006 at 700/1400 and FEAR runs maxed out at 1680x1050!!! The best bang for the back and fastest single video card without a doubt.
- Cons: Compatibility issues - read below :(( Hot, needs lots of airflow - not really a con considering speed but gotta mention that. Unhelpful phone tech support:(
- Other Thoughts: The card is wicked fast But... it has some issues, that's why only 3 stars, average rating. For a $500 product this has too many raw edges. I wish I read the EVGA forums before buying, I'd have avoided wasting a day trying to get it to work...
It has confirmed issues with some RAID controllers. In my case the on board Silicon Image PCI SATA RAID on the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe. It has to be turned off, it just doesn't work with this card, its BIOS won't load at all. Also, the Auzentech (formerly Blue Gears) X-Mystique 7.1 doesn't work with this video card in this combination. In both cases there is some low level BIOS incompatibility and so far no one really takes responsibility for it. So, I had to get rid of a few hard drives and go back to on-board Realtek sound in order to get the sweet/insane framerates. I'm not very happy in the end - too much of a tradeoff.
FYI, I had the latest BIOS, drivers, etc. Before you buy this card check out EVGA forums to see if people with similiar g
Follow up to Yeah Baby post
- Pros: From "Yeah Baby" post... didn't mean to imply that the newer drivers could support SLI on multiple monitors. I am using the Matrox Triplehead2go to use all three screens 3840x1024 connected to one video output. If you want SLI on multiple monitors, you need it! But to all you ATI fans out there bragging about HDR and AA together... I state again, this card does infact handle both by forcing in the driver config. It absolutely does work! Forget bloom in Oblivion, use HDR and force the AA in the Nvida control panel... unlock your advance settings with Coolbits set to 1A for advanced 3d settings and overclocking applets. Set your view at the top of the Nvidia control to advanced as well, then tweak away. Hope that helps!
- Cons: Your kidding, right? Again runs warm, but using the applet, auto overclocked to 550/700 runs 55 to 68C with side window case fan blowing directly on them
- Other Thoughts: Can't wait for the new one to show up... Thanks again New Egg for your great service as always. Looking forward to testing the new Quad beta drivers even if most games don't support it yet. I still think it will be quite a performance boost even still at ultra high resolutions like with the Matrox setup. (Better and cheaper choice than larger displays and allows greater Fov and independant window control... get it now even if it is only VGA right now... it looks incredible!

Makes VISTA fly !
- Pros: Great card. Cheaper and almost same performance as dual-7900 GTX. Also good since some games have issues with SLI. This way you get the performance with the issues.
- Cons: The GX2 isn't the only card to have issues w/ Silicon Image RAID. My older ATI card did as well.
- Other Thoughts: This is my "WoW" factor. Also to comment on what others have said, why would you bother using the Si-RAID if you have NVIDIA which is way better, especially if you are using SATA-II or a WD Raptor. And I use Creative SoundBlaster X-FI, no issues there.
Wonderful Card, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPACE
- Pros: Amazing performance, beautiful and smooth rendering in many 3d games with high settings, easily controlled through nVidia's ntune (for those of you worried about the high temps), very easily overclocked
- Cons: Takes up a LOT of space. I made the mistake of trying to force this into a tiny Lian Li microatx case, on top of my SATA ports no less! Horrible mistake. Please, please, please make sure you have the space for this in your case, and that the card won't be crushing or moving anything else in your machine.
- Other Thoughts: Well worth the money, but make sure you intall nTune to control the fan speeds and high temperatures (though I'm sure it was safe, I prefer having the louder fans and more 'stable' low temps), as well as making sure there's enough room to support this behemoth.
Fast Card!!
- Pros: Extremely fast, very happy with it. Only requires one slot.
- Cons: No DirectX 10, but no cards had that when I bought this a few months ago
