OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
At the core of the EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR sits the extreme GeForce 8800GTX GPU, ready to take you to gaming nirvana. Armed with the revolutionary new NVIDIA unified architecture (with GigaThread technology), this graphic card renders images real enough to eat (or kill) for a completely immersive gaming experience. Its 768 MB 384-Bit GDDR3 memory has an 1800 MHz clock speed so you can crank any game to limit of its specs. Featuring full DirectX 10 support, this card is fully geared for the inevitable onslaught of Microsoft Windows Vista.

The NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology offers high-definition video decoding and delivers videos with unprecedented clarity to convert your PC into a high-end home-theater system. The NVIDIA Lumenex Engine delivers spectacular image quality and high floating point accuracy at ultra-high frame rates, and their Quantum Effects Technology results in a new level of gaming performance, as it lets the major physics computation to be done by the GPU itself, freeing the core CPU for other tasks. SLI enabled, you can connect two of these "super graphic cards" for an expectation shattering gaming experience.

Good Times

Pros: Over clocks well to 620/960 with Air cooling, doesn't get too hot in my case (Antech 900) Blows all current DX9 games away, even without any OC's. Outperforms the x1950's even in crossfire with a little OCing. The Ultra and even a Pre OC'd card seem like a waste when it's so easy to do it yourself, stable and cool. I can't believe how good Oblivion looks with forced AAx4 or AAx8 in 1600x1200. I had a 7800GTX and this is night and day better.
Cons: nTune is a hard program to use, it takes up two spaces in the back (one for the card, one for cooling so it can blow heat out the back, so in SLI heat is going to become a major issue, as one may bleed heat into the other.
Other Thoughts: And didn't have to do any modding to my case, I don't know what people are talking about. And over clocking the memory to 1000+ seems like a waste right now, either way watercooling is just not needed.

Amazingly Amazing

Pros: There's no slowing down this card to an unplayable framerate, plus it beats any other card on the market, offering also the best price/performance if you think about it. There's nothing faster for the money (let's take $599 for reference since this is the nVidia suggested retail price), not even X1950XTX CrossFire (in most situations) which sells for much more than this. On stock speeds it managed Oblivion on max settings, HDR + 8x AA, 16x AF, and with high-resolution texture packs all on 1680x1050, and it played smoothly like butter. It's crazy fast. I would give this product a 6 out of 5 if I can.
Cons: The only con I've experienced is heat, in my CM Stacker case this thing idles at about 60C and 65C on a warm day, which is a little too hot for a video card at stock speed. In Oblivion where the shaders are under heavy load the card goes into the low-80's. Even so the cooling is still pretty impressive, but the high temperatures of the card is enough to affect other parts of my PC, especially the chipset, which motivates me to watercool this card, and I have a feeling that it will be very useful during summer. 1 egg off of my virtual 6 eggs for excessive heat so it still gets 5 eggs out of 5.
Other Thoughts: Seeing how spacious the newer computer cases on the market are, this 10.5-inch is still very acceptable. There are advantages of getting the "raw" 8800GTX since it costs less, and for the people who are into watercooling they can buy the DangerDen waterblock for it which is identical to the BFG watercooled 8800GTX (DangerDen was the company who made the block for BFG) for less money. One thing I'd also like to mention is overclocking, it's as great as an overclocker as previous nVidia cards, I managed to get mine up to 660/2430 but then as winter is leaving us, I've reverted back to stock speeds. Should you get one? If you have the money, then yes because it's useless waiting for new hardwares, there will always be better hardwares a few months after a new hardware is released. However, if you're looking for a cheaper solution that offers almost as groudbreaking performance as the 8800GTX, you should go look for the 8800GTS which has the nVidia suggested retail price of $xxx.

Pros: I think this card is awesome! I was even able to overclock it a bit (keeping it safe). I play Crysis on high settings with a resolution of 1680x1050 with about 33 fps on average(no AA or it would kill my system). Runs smooth. Most other games are just child's play with this GPU. Overclocking it is easy too. The utilities make it easy to OC and save your settings as a profile so you can just click back and forth.
Cons: None that I can find at this point.
Other Thoughts: Q6600, abit IP35 Pro LGA 775, EVGA GeForce 8800GTX 768MB, 4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 dual channel, Zalman CNPS9700 cooler, KINGWIN ABT-600MA1S 600W Power Supply all wrapped in a CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 case

Pros: Hello Crysis. Awesome power in this card. Had a little trouble OC'ing but I think I just need a bit better cooling. Tons of power in this beast, a decent upgrade from a 7950 GX2 even.
Cons: Should've waited for bargain prices to kick in soon, as I know they're coming around. Couldn't wait, though.
