The GeForce 8 series offers a complete family of graphic cards ready to meet the unique needs of their users. The series features a unified DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0 & Open GL 2.0 architecture to produce stunning 3-dimensional graphics and lifelike textures. With 10-bit per channel output, the 8 series produces higher fidelity color and separation. The cards support SLI and NVIDIA's PureVideo HD.

The 8800GTS is rock-solid while delivering blistering video and graphic performance. Its 681 million transistors can handle anything your games throw at it. Accelerated processors offer faster video and other high-demand graphic effects.

96 stream processors are fed by 640MB of 320-bit GDDR3 SDRAM running at 1800MHz to deliver a full 2560 x 1600 resolution. The 576MHz core clock keeps everything moving and the 400MHz RAMDAC and twin dual-linked DVI let you output to multiple and large monitors. Video can be streamed via HDTV or S-Video. The 8800GTS blows past the competition for best-in-class graphic performance at an affordable price.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: This card has solid performance, as well as plenty of speed.

Cons: it's big, and it seems to run a bit warm, but I believe it may be my case

Other Thoughts: I have two of these with an E6600 OC'd to 3.4 Ghz and my Ram is running a 5-5-5-15, which I believe is why these things run a bit hot, and they like to suck on power. I had to adjust my Power Supply to 650 watts to compensate for the power drain because My PC wouldn't turn on unless I reset the Power Supply from the switch on the back. 460watts wasn't enough. They Perform well, and I had no trouble installing them.. though they are quite big.. just plan for it. any of the 8000 series Geforce cards are monsters, so just be aware. I don't see any reason to take 'eggs' away, because all I am seeking is a great increase in performance, and that I received.... the rest is ancillary.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card for the money

Pros: Swapped out my old OC'ed 7800GT for this. Not top of the line but probably the best performance/value ratio currently.

Cons: Haven't seen any. Some people think the fan is loud, I can't hear mine under my desk, especially compared my optical drives when in use.

Other Thoughts: Throw on a $30 passive Artic Cooling on this thing and it'll lower the temps a ton for cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsNice card for an EOL

Pros: For sure faster than my non-SSC EVGA card that it's paired with. I can now play Crysis with everything on HIGH at 1280x1024. It made the game look MUCH better.

Cons: It makes several degrees Celsius more heat than my old card. I guess those extra shaders do make more heat.

Other Thoughts: I also use both cards for Folding@Home and they work great for it. I o/ced both cards to 1512 shaders, and they have no issues pumping the PPD.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good value for the $. Not the newest on the market, but for my uses, video editing, it will work just fine. Fast screen updates for gamers.

Cons: cooling fan is a bit louder than I would like when the card is worked a bit. Under light load it is quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesomeness!

Pros: BIG upgrade from what I was running. Put this into my first build with an Athlon 64 x2 6000 and 4 gb ram on an Asus M2N-SLI board. VERY happy with the results! I've only installed a few games so far (BioShock, CoH, FEAR) and it eats them up like Cherry Pez.

Cons: The card is a monster! It's pretty big. Make sure you have plenty of room in your case. Also, don't throw it at your girlfriend. It's so big it might knock her out.

On second thought...go for it.

Other Thoughts: Thinking about buying another of these for SLI. I'm only running a 550w PS, so I'll have to upgrade that first. But I'm happy with the way things are right now.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: I have had nothing but good things from this card. Its reliable, fast, and stays cool. Unlike the original 8800GTS 640mb superclocked which had 96 stream processors, the 8800 SSC edition has 112 stream processors. On battlefield 2142, I get an average of 85 frames per second. With sometimes hitting 110 frames per second. All settings on high with 16x Anti Aliasing. Call of duty 4 with max settings and 16x Anti Aliasing I usually get about 75 frames per second. Crysis is a killer. Everybody knows that. But with a DX10 hack, I get 30+ average frames with Anti Aliasing turned off.

Cons: Go with the 8800 Ultra. Its only $200 now. It would kill this card but what do you expect with 768mb and 611 core clock.

Other Thoughts: As stated above. This card is a great card and kills battlefield series games. No lag at all.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!!!

Pros: Rips thru every game I have! I'm a FPS nut, and this card has yet to disappoint. I can set everything of high, and I have yet to suffer any framerate slowdown. Plus, you cannot beat the price!!!

Cons: My only con is that I don't have an SLI board! I wish I could have 2 of these mofos in my case!!! That's my next move.

Other Thoughts: You might want to go with a better cooling solution if you want to OC. Most drivers let you lock the fan at 100%. That's what I've been doing, but I have not OC'ed this card yet.

4 out of 5 eggsNice for a PCIEx16

Pros: Nice graphics card for anyone with a PCI Express x16 interface. Works well with my Abit KN9.

Cons: Heat is definitly an issue. It took some tinkering to get it to stay under 60c during gaming. Had to install EVGA Precision utility (free) for more control over fan speed and clocking.

Other Thoughts: A better case fan is now on order. Save shipping by ordering beefed up case fans if you need them when you buy this card.
