Here's a video card for the gamer, engineer or artist with high standards. Using a Radeon X1950Pro processor clocked at 600 MHz with 12 pixel pipelines, 256 MB GDDR3 memory, you're not talking "slow display" here!

It has dual DVI connectors (with an adapter so they can be used on VGA-style monitors as well), a VIVO port, and an integrated TV encoder putting out HDTV, S-Video or Composite Video. Crossfire-ready (so make certain your power supply can handle it!), it features HDR (High Dynamic Range) for ever more realistic lighting and display effects. PCI Express support to keep up with that fast GPU, it's Vista ready and can display a resolution of 2560 x 1600.

The next generation of games and hi-res HDR applications is here already, so update to a card that knows how to talk to them.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Heckuva upgrade from an AIW 9600. Runs Oblivion beautifully on 'ultra high' settings, maybe 35-40 fps avg. Card is very quiet, even under load, and runs cool.

Cons: Only comes with one VGA D-sub to HDMI adapter. Card is very long, but it did fit in Antec SLK-3000B case after moving a HD. When fan ramps up, it is the loudest thing in my case. I don't mind 'cause this is only during games, which, of course, make plenty of noise to cover it. Rebate is tricky, many steps, try rather than the URL on the form.

Other Thoughts: The 4-pin to PCIE power cable that came with did fit. It did come with a Crossfire cable. It silenced my X-Fi sound card until I shifted it to another PCI slot (IRQs on mobo/OS?). Don't believe the hype - it's working fine with my Seasonic SS-300W power supply that has 18A on the 12V rail. It draws about 66W max.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good card

Pros: This card ran Oblivion at 1024x724 on medium settings, HDR on with no problem. CoH, high/ultra settings, no problem. Ran stable, no problems.

Cons: NOT RESISTANT TO SON's COKES SPILLS. :D After 6 months (ordered December '06) it still has only dropped about ten in price. I decided to go with a 8600GTS which I will SLi later on.

Other Thoughts: E6300 @ 2.1 GHz Biostar Tforce945P 2GB Viking DDR2667 X1950PRO

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: Incredible card at the price. Its not a budget breaker and you get a lot. VIVO is nice feature to have in a high end card, no need to get extra video inputs. Scored a 4850 in 3Dmark06 demo version.

Cons: So its a little big, but that can be planned for.

Other Thoughts: First one came and worked in my new system, the next day it had jumbled graphics but RMA'd it and works fine now. Took 6 days for shipping the 2nd one, it was over a weekend though. Gotta be thankful for RMA, otherwise we'd be stuck with junk.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Card!

Pros: This thing is FAST! It's also very quiet, with a huge heatsink and fan. I can't hear it at all, over my twin 36gb raptors.

Cons: It could be too big for some smaller cases. (It was a PERFECT fit for my Ultra Wizard)

Other Thoughts: All settings maxed out, 160fps on video stress test for Counter Strike: Source. (C2D e6400, 1gb Patriot PC6400 ram, 1360x768)

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Great

Pros: This 1950pro has been a great upgrade from my old 9800pro. At first I was a bit concerned by reviews that this card ran very hot, but with the AC cooler it has been idling between 34-36c and ingame averaging around 51-53c.

Cons: I had to re-arrange one of my hd's and some cables to fit this longer card into my case. It is almost 2 inches longer than my 9800pro was.

Other Thoughts: This Powercolor X1950pro has been a very nice upgrade for my system.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty but unstable!

Pros: When working, the graphics are beautiful and the price was right. It runs quietly when under normal load. Options for overclocking are right in the ATI display manager's Advanced mode.

Cons: After a couple of days, the card began to fail sporadically when doing fullscreen 3D, sometimes locking up the system (and once spontaneously rebooting it). The failures got more and more frequent until it would consistently lock up after 30-60 seconds. New drivers, new power supply, new DX install - nothing fixed it. Card and system temperatures were normal. Searching online, I found that others have had similar problems, most with the same card, some with just the same chipset. I returned the card and am waiting for a replacement. Hopefully this will fix it.

Other Thoughts: Don't bother with the included drivers. Download new ones. Also make sure you've got a power supply that puts out 30A on the 12V rail.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerColor X1950 PRO

Pros: Ran wanderfully until my power supply bit the dust, Lol thankfully I have a new one on the way :) HL2 Episode I ran flawlessly at 1248x1024 res with everything maxed incuding 4xAA and 8xAF and HDR haven't tried oblivion yet. Accelero X2 is extremely quiet and very efficient at cooling this GPU.

Cons: No good heatsinks on the Voltage regulators, just little black pieces of aluminum, didn't seem to affect the cards performance though.

Other Thoughts: Haven't had the chance to OC this baby since my PS died on me.. could add some ramsinks to the voltage regulators like I did for extra surface area... Also make sure you have enough room in your case for this thing as it is 9.5 inches long, I have an N Z X T Apollo and there isn't much clearance between the back of the card and my HDD bays just barely enough with the PCI-e power plugged in... Best Wishes :)

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice card!

Pros: Very good performance for this price range. Accelero fan cools well and is quiet. Slight overclock out of the box.

Cons: A little pricier than competing X1950 PRO cards. Card takes up two slots because of the massive fan.

5 out of 5 eggsBest X1950 Pro

Pros: Best Radeon X1950 Pro out there.
Uses Arctic Cooling VGA fan and that thing is awesome. Very quiet and very cool.

Cons: If you have a smaller case the proprietary cooler might not fit the case.
