Pros: Very easy on the wallet (for the performance it gives), all games run smoothly, video+audio HDMI support, 1 slot solution, fast shipping with newegg.

Cons: Drivers don't seem to be keeping up with the hardware itself, 1 slot solution=heat stays inside the box, I wouldn't expect much help from powercolor's website, not even the warranty is mentioned anywhere, but it was the cheapest 4850 and reviews suggest they're just as good as the competition so I went with it.

Other Thoughts: This is a great card from what I can tell. I had the 8800gts 640mb and tested this on that system, and I did get an fps increase, but most games that stuttered with the 8800 ran smooth with this, regardless of fps. The 1 slot solution is both good and bad, I needed it because I'm using it in a microATX so I need the space, but the heat will stay inside the case unless you add a PCI exhause fan. The overheating problem can be easily fixed with the fanfix, went from 20% 60c to 45% 40c-45c idle temps without any significant noise increase. The driver for XP seems to work just fine, but on vista it seems a bit glitchy, the games did stutter from time to time, as if the frames couldn't keep up. I think overall this is the best card to get / dollar spent. Highly recommended.
Thanks ATI for finally becoming a competition for Nvidia, I was getting tired of seeing $500+ cards that are now selling for $200, talk about price gouging.

Pros: Barebones ATI 4850 card. Performs well. Great price. Scaling with crossfire is great.

Cons: Runs fairly hot. Hot enough for the Powercolor sticker on the cooler peeled off on it's own. Supprt on power color website was no existant. Support site only had the 3870. Instructions for crossfire was weak.

Pros: Wow, crysis, unbelievable. No hiccups on high settings. Looks like the characters on my screen can come out and slap ya.

Cons: none. Fixed the temp prob by adjusting the fan. Sits idle at 45C and 60ish at full load.

Other Thoughts: People having probs with no signal out of their dvi probably have their settings incompatible with their moniters. Adjust the settings or go under options and force detection. Quick fix. Google it, there's a work around, takes 5 mins tops.

Pros: Even though it's been reiterated by reviewers over and over again, this card is at this time (Summer 08) the best value per performance. And I would say it is indeed a great performer that is above what you would see in a typical "mid-range" card. Don't rely too heavily on Futuremark benchmarks, actual gameplay has shown that this card can handle the majority of games today at medium-high resolutions (I would say up to ~ 1680x1050).

Cons: If you don't mind spending a few minutes to manually adjust the fan speed, then there's is pretty much nothing wrong with this card. Powercolor offers a fair warranty as well.

Other Thoughts: It is easy to do an Internet search on manually adjusting the fan speed. If you're not into stock coolers, there's a huge array of aftermarket coolers that are compatible with this card (it has a similar enough layout to the 3800 series cards).

Pros: The card is faster than my x1950xtx but since I only run 1280x1024, World in Conflict only saw a 50% increase in framerate. I was expecting much more.

Cons: Like many others, I get no signal in DVI mode. I have to run the RGB converter. At first, reseating the card would take care of the problem. Now that method does not work. Running the 8.7 catalyst version so that is up to date.

Other Thoughts: I did the edit for the fan speed to 45%. Temperature went from 76c to 52c at idle. Still quiet.

Pros: Decent OC benchmark of 13,337 with single card and E8400 on ECS GF7050VT-M 1.0 MB on Windows XP SP3 with 8.7 drivers and CCC. Able to edit fan control in user profiles.( have to look for them) Able to play Open GL games such as Prey. With the latest patches I have been able to play UT3, Orange BOx, FEAR Platinum Collection, Crysis and Bioshock with no problems at all. Games look great and are action packed. Great deal from Newegg. Auido sounds good.

Cons: Updating drivers requires to completely delete all *ATI* files, run Driver Sweeper. It requires some time to find all the files but if you do it right the new drivers work great.

Other Thoughts: Be careful on the OC but this card with the right utility (RT) seems to have room for great benchmarks.

Stock Fan settings were at 12%. Very quiet at that setting. around 50% setting fan noise becomes noticeable.

Does run hot but it's not that hard to edit user profile fan settings to maintain 44-57 degree settings under slight stable OC conditions. (stock cooler works good)

Pros: This thing is just amazing! I can play just about every game on max setting on my 1280x1024 monitor and the lowest frames I can get is about 60. You won't regret buying this card! It kills my old 8600gts and runs cooler once you increase the fan speed (Which is very easy to do, took less than a minute, just google ;) COD4 gets an average of 75-90 fps. Crysis can run on high with 4aa and get an average of 30 fps (Which because crysis was horribly coded, crysis 2 and far cry 2 will be able to played maxed out on this card) I got a 3dmark06 score of 12594 with this card! Do yourself a favor and buy this card! If you ever thing of getting a 9800gtx DON'T!!

Cons: I can't register it since PowerColor isn't a Manufacture you can choose, I'm sure it will be fixed soon though

Pros: AMD wins this round. I'm sure you've all seen the benchmarks - the card screams. In crossfire it is the dominator of worlds. The HD 48xx will be taking the place once held by the 8800GT. Bigger performance, less cash. At $143 after rebate, this card outperforms NVIDIA's $200 9800GTX.

Cons: Crysis still eludes playability. I had to spend 5 minutes editing a CCC profile to up my fan speed to reduce temps (%35 fan speed reduced GPU temp 30C while not increasing noise). I'm sure they will take care of the fan/heat issue very soon. Unless you are too lazy to use google, this is a non-issue.

Other Thoughts: This is the mainstream PC gamer's price point, and ATI is the victor. I'm very happy to see this market competition again. When NVIDIA puts the GTX 280 in the HD 4870's budget, they can have my business back.

Pros: Got this card for my upgrade. Using it with AMD 6000+, 4GB A-DATA PC2 6400 (2x2GB), MSI K9A2 CF-F V2 board, Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Runs all games flawlessly and fast, Crysis, COD4, CS:Source, Stranglehold. Very pleased so far.

Cons: Card does run hot. I did not check load, but CCC showed 73C at idle. Even after gaming a couple of hours, heat hasn't caused any issues that I see.

Other Thoughts: I did Google "HD 4870 Fan-Control, Easy Workaround" suggested in comments on other HD4850 reviews. Took about one minute to perform and within a few minutes, idle temp down to 54C with no more fan noise than before. Try it!

Pros: Great card! Got it to replace my 7950GT 256Mb card. What a difference. Games are silky smooth. The image quality is soo much better. This is my first ATI card since a 9600LE and I'm very impressed.
$5.00 off the price, a free gift and rebate. How can you go wrong.

Cons: HOT. 74C at idle 86C load. This is unacceptable in my opinion. The stock heat sink is an aluminum plate painted a copper color. So, take an aluminum plate paint it with an insulator cover it with a plastic shroud (another insulator) and you get a super hot card. see my solution below.

Other Thoughts: I had bought a Zalman vf900 to cool the 7950GT and moved it to the 4850. It fit perfectly. I put Zalman heatsinks on the mem chips and generic aluminum heatsinks on the power circuitry. The result: 44C idle and 64C load.
I'm sure I have a bunch of overclocking room now but feel no need to attempt it yet.
The card is now quiet and relatively cool and I have peace of mind.
