4 out of 5 eggsdecent

Pros: Great combo of price, peformance, and features. Got it oced to 486 core, 679 mem.

Cons: Aquamark 3 score is around 30k, thats when couples with an athlon 64 3000. In 3dmark05 it scores in the mid 700s, which it terrible to look at.

Other Thoughts: Wish i would have spent more $$ for a 6600 gt.....

2 out of 5 eggsWhat Ballzy said...

Comments: I got this card in hopes of using it as a PVR to support the HD cable decoder DVR we have from Insightbb. The card will not accept the signal from the DVR, so only what you get with direct connection to your cable line is what you get. Apparently it doesn't support HDTV either and once you watch it in HD, you aren't going back. Finally, you have to have a simultanius internet connection as well, which is never mentioned in the requirements. So basically everything that I bought this card to do, it can only do it poorly. But, if you just want to use it for normal stuff and don't care about quality, it's not a bad deal for the average video dabbler.

One last thing, the remote is useless. I have over twice the recommended requirements to run this card and software but there is at least a 15 second lag when using any of the functions of the controler.

Also had the same issues as what Ballzy said.

I'm tossing the card. It's a sold FX5700 and will do well with older games and such, but I made the age old mistake, you get what you pay for. I rather get a 6600 for HDTV support, and a high quality Video Capture card. I'll end up spending 4x more, but that is what I wanted in the end.

Comments: Capture function does not work. Bundled software is a joke. PNY technical support is non-existant. Better look to ATI for a capture card.

2 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I liked the card, it came with everything it was supposed to, and did have the DVR function, BUT, whenever I tried playing a CATV signal through it, it would do fine for anywhere from 5 - 45 minutes, then the computer would just lock up. PNY said it was a common error and sent me a Windows hotfix that did not work. After numerous attempts for more support from PNY I finally sent it back to Newegg for a replacement. They gave me a refund so I can't say if another would have worked better. The computer I tried it in: Athlon 2800+, ABIT NF7-S2, 1 GB pc 3200 Kingston Value Ram, 80 GB SATA 150 WD HDD.Windows XP Pro SP2.

5 out of 5 eggsBudget Bargain can't be Beat

Comments: Great all-in-one AGP package. Saved a PCI slot by using this item instead of the other PVR options. I have been able to record my favorite TV shows and movies over cable, composite and s-video...with not a single problem. The Ulead software is 'OK' for basic recording and editing...lot's of options, take the time to read and tinker. Windows only, for now. If your wanting a linux setup, go for the Hauppage PCI cards. The Guide+ service is OK, Freevo, MythTV and TVtoME have better file naming when scheduling recordings, but it works.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for price.

Comments: Been using the card at work havent had single problem with it. Play games good for a 5700 and have captured a couple VHS movies to it without any trouble. I have also watched and record couple movies off of cable and works great there to. I a very good card if you want a TV Tuner and a Video card all in one package like it did.
