Still going strong
- Pros: Early 2005 I invested in two of these to run in SLI. So far, I have fond nothing these cards can't handle. My 3DMark05 score breaks 10,000 and I can run everything at full settings 1600x1200 (most games I can crank then antialiasing up to 4x or 8x, newer ones run well at 2x). I have the dual DVI version with a copper heatsink (different than the one pictured here) and it keeps the card fairly cool even during long hours of operation.
- Cons: These were fairly expensive when I bought them, but it goes to show that if you invest a little extra, it pays off in the later years.
- Other Thoughts: These cards have been nothing but excellent for me. I don't see myself upgrading my PC for another year or two. Maybe when DirextX 10 cards come out :D.
Excellent even by today's standards
- Pros: Great performance; in HL2, it delivers 240+fps at 1024x768 with 4xAntiAliasing and 4xAntistropic filtering, and at 1152x864 with the same AA/AF it gets at least 180fps. Great driver features (way to go NVidia) including some great color correction features (you can even invert the entire screen black to white, and there's no performance drop--I tested it). Wonderful dual monitor performance, great video playback, and can drive very large resolutions.
- Cons: When I bought this card, it was three and a quarter tenths of a grand and it had a good fifty buck rebate. However, when I mailed in the rebate, they would not accept my NewEgg invoice as a receipt and ripped me off half a hundred dollars. I'm just a little sour about that.
- Other Thoughts: Benchmark scores:
AquaMark 3 - 60100+ (gpu score of 9800+) (I don't recall what it got in 3DMark 2000 and 2001, and I'm not at it right now to check, but I know it got over 20000 for both) 3DMark 2003 - 11500+ 3DMark 2005 - ~5300
My (current) system specs: MOBO - Jetway SLI motherboard (the only one on NewEgg with 3 PCIe x16 slots) CPU - AMD Athlon64 3200+ (Venice core) GPU - this sw33t card MEMORY - 2x1GB (kit) GeIL DDR400 dual-channel memory (blue heat spreaders, lifetime warranty, 2.55-2.95V acceptable, runs great at CAS 2-3-2-5) DRIVES - NEC 16x DVD+-RW burner, 52x cd reader, 30GB hdd, 80GB hdd (and I have a 5.25"/3.5" combo floppy drive, but I don't use it {:< )
Awesome card Hands Down!!!
- Pros: Great card! Still worth the money even with the 7900 series out. Plays all games including FEAR and Oblivion at 1024 or above. Great overclocking ability 400/1.1 rock solid.
- Cons: None!
- Other Thoughts: Overclocks 'almost' to Ultra speeds at 'almost' half the cost! ;) Great buy from a great company...Newegg rox 2!
