bfg 7800

white Reviewed By: on 2/14/2007

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: while i don't have the 7800gtoc i do have the 7800gtxoc from bfg and this card is great 25c idle temp strictly air cooling w/stock heatsink.it eats up and spits out all games i run on it..i only have 1 card but it's more than enough to play near anything.i would have to guess that the 7800gt is a great card as well.
Cons: could have made cooling shroud more removal friendly as i like to keep my machine spotless inside and out.dust collects in fins under cover just as it would on ANY video card.keep it clean it will live longer.
Other Thoughts: i paid just over 400usd for the gtxoc model close to whern it was released.i had a 6800gt and it was a great card too but this ones better.as for all the reports of the cards running hot...are you guys using mini atx cases?i have a mountain mod u2-ufo it has 9 x 120mm fans keeps everything nice and cool..gamers should be using full-mid towers or larger to get good cooling.btw dx10 cards will not help you unless you have the vista that supports dx10..from what i hear xp will never have support for dx10 and also i heard dx10 is not backwards compatible with dx9 or lower..guess that means some older games may not work.hope this helps someone.

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: It's a good card, it will run all the current games at max settings as long as you don't have a bottleneck (like 1G or RAM for BF2 or a PIII). Gets above 7400 points in 3DMark05
Cons: For the Price, you could get a 7900GT that is better.
Other Thoughts: Great card, but growing old.

Great Card But its on the out

Tech Level Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Great Card Runs everything On high. Bit lax with online play though. Love BFG and NVIDIA if your not looking for your future games to be flawless then this is the card to get. Its affordable and will still crank some really good GFX but its definatley getting squashed by the newer Cards the nvidia is producing
Cons: Becoming outdated quickly. Runs some games on high all the time but others like Battle field 2 you really got to crank down the graphics a lot. If your looking for a card to run with flawless graphics, better go ahead and spend the extra cash and get a 7950 GX2 or even wait a month or two NVIDIA should have another card cominging thats even better. It's supposed to be the first DirectX 10 GFX card dont know much about that one though.
Other Thoughts: Amazing card and really pushes itself but definitley better to go with a better card at this point in time.
