1 out of 5 eggsdead after 1 year

Pros: Worked good while it lasted

Cons: Well first the fan started making noise after six months, then the other day in the middle of a game the lovely smell of metal burning hits me and a moment later the thing dies.

Other Thoughts: Yeah I prolly should have replaced the loud fan as defective but it was spinning and moving air, plus I have two side fans on the case that moves air over both the vga and the cpu. Either way very sad when a video card goes bad after 1 year.

2 out of 5 eggsNot a very good card

Pros: None off of the top of my head. It was priced right. Didn't arrive DOA.

Cons: The card looks good on paper but performs like a 64 Mb card (or worse). Drivers that came with card not current. MANY glitches trying to run games like battlefield 2.

Other Thoughts: Spend a little more money and buy a 6800GS. Not only is the card built better, it runs battlefield 2 like a pro on its highest settings. I will never buy a chaintech product again. AMD64 X2 @ 2.2 Ghz, 2Gb RAM, BFG 6800GS.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great . . . for awhile

Pros: I bought the card in January of '06 to replace my pxx 5200. I was jonzin for some CS:S, bad. It ran great, and with some tweaking, I could get a consistent 60-80fps. Other games, like JK2 and CS 1.6 ran like silk at full max. Now mind you, 1.6 ran that way on the 5200. Then one day . . .

Cons: . . . in the middle of a CS:S binge, I heard a weird noise, like something falling. I immediately expected the fan on the gpu, but it was intact and spun like usual. I spent months and months trying to figure out what was wrong. I replaced my 20 dollar 400W psu with a 500W yesterday. Didn't fix the problem, but I noticed after awhile, it gradually got crappier. I think these things just overheat quickly and are prone to sucking in general. I experimented: I ran the CS:S benchmark util three times in a row. First result: 69fps average; Second: 52fps average; Third: 43fps average. Clearly this card has issues. I left my comp off for 5 hours, came back, powered up, immediately ran the benchmark again: 105fps! wow! Then I played source for 5 minutes with three bots on Dust. Fps dropped from 60-80fps, gradually down to about 25-40. Ran benchmark again: 45fps

Other Thoughts: Like I said, ran great for awhile, now it runs like do-do. I'm also experiencing the video issue another review experienced: If I play any kind of video(mpeg, wmv, etc.), it almost completely locks up and I have to end up rebooting because task manager locks up as soon as I try and end the video program.

2 out of 5 eggsNot sure about quality

Pros: The card ran quietly and handled games pretty well.

Cons: I experienced serious artifacting and sudden reboots while playing games. I had to RMA this card and start using my old one again.

Other Thoughts: My system exceeds every minimum requirement stated on the box. There was also a PCI fan card keeping the video card cool. Also, I clean installed the latest driver from Nvidia's website but that did not fix the artifacting/reboot problems. I never attempted to overclock it neither. I'm sure I simply received a defective card. I would have given this card a 5 if these problems never occurred since I did manage to run my games at more than 640x480 resolution with Medium/High settings with no stuttering.

2 out of 5 eggsPretty bad, memory issues after a year

Pros: cheap price, good specs on card, does clone and split displays easily.

Cons: After a year of using card, started having constant BSOD in Win XP, related to memory on this graphics card. Warranty of one year, ugh.

Other Thoughts: Try another manufacturer and pay a few more bucks for better support and warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsThis is a good card for the old school gamers

Pros: This card is good for the ones who dont really like all the new games. I can play Lineage2 on it no problem but when i go to play BF2 on all high it start to get some lag. It is very easy to set up. its really a good overall card

Cons: I just wish it was more powerful. im only 13 and i have a low budjet so i bought a cheap card. I try to play Call Of duty 2 but it laggs sooo much you cant get the full effect out of the game its not fun. Dont buy This card unless you like to play easy simple games. It is a good card but not strong enough for me...

Other Thoughts: Make sure your power supply is over 300 mabey 325 just to be safe i had a 230 and it just fried it. Thanks to new egg i got a new 375 power supply for just 14.99 it is really noisy though lol.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems

Pros: Installed with no problems replacing a Chaintech FX5200 - I had already downloaded the latest NVIDIA software Forceware 91.31 and installation was perfect. Card runs as expected.

Note: I am using a 350W ANTEC power supply and so far have had no problems.

Cons: Previous reviewer said that documentation does not mention the power cord/connector requirement. This is not 100% correct. This is stated on page 5 of the User's Guide (Although this section of the guide applies to the 6600GT, some common sense applies)

Other Thoughts: Chaintech website as far as I'm concerned is useless for downloads. I have repeatedly followed their links to download the software and documentation and the links have repeatedly returned errors. NVIDIA homepage has links for downloads with no problems. Don't bother with the drivers on the included CD - If you want the latest software goto NVIDIA.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the Price

Pros: Runs CoH & CoV at max settings in 800 X 600 mode. Only have 300 watt power supply and havent had any problems.

Cons: Over 800 X 600 it does start to lag some.

Documentation not very good. Does not mention anything about hooking up additional power chord to the card. Makes me wonder if some of the dead on arrivals listed here are just from people that forgot to connect the power to it.
