I think it has a problem
- Comments: Okay, granted the card has a great price. And for the most part, works pretty well. But I'm experiencing a problem which I believe I've traced back to the video card, which is the subject of this review. I have my XFX connected to two Dell 1905FP monitors and 99% of the time they look absolutely beautiful. But it seems that my left screen flashes from time to time, particuarly when I have a webpage maximized to full screen. I'm totally baffled. I tried updating to all the latest drivers, bios, mobo, and video drivers. Deathly afraid that it could be a problem with one of my beloved Dells, I switched the plugs to make the left monitor the right one, and the right one the left one. The same flashing would occur, but this time on the right screen. This indicated to me that the problem was not with my dell, but likely the video card. It doesn't do it all the time, but its still very annoying because I consume lots of online material and get very distracted by the flashing. Maybe something else is the problem, but i'm pretty sure its the video card. For most everything the card is alright, but this flashing problem earns this card a poor rating. Go with something else if you can afford it.
Hot
- Comments: I put this in my antec aria SFF case; with the 120mm fan of the case this card sometimes overheats. I needed to put a PCI slotted fan next to the card. The built in GF6600's Temp Sensor is disabled in XFX's bios. And the temperature panic is fixed to 145 deg C. [see link] I regularly read 65 deg C idle and 75 deg C in Half-Life 2. Occasionally HL2 has locked my system hard, presumably due to heat or a driver issue.
no problem with sff fit
- Comments: this card is awsome for the price esspcially with the dual dvi. i purchased this card because i wanted a dual dvi card for my shuttle sb83g5. works great. the power plug everyone seems to be complaining about is the standard plug (ie plug into cd rom drives). the problem is that the cable in the shuttle isnt long enough. just adding an extension solves the problem. now i can run 2 dell 1905fps. this card rocks! great resolution, good clocking, and best of all,... no noise!
