5 out of 5 eggsfast card

Pros: fast and cheap and unlockable!

Cons: not #1 in the market

Other Thoughts: Unlock the extra pipes in this sucker and you've got a very fast card.

1 out of 5 eggsHDTV owners beware!

Pros: It's cheap. If you can get it to work, then in theory you can convert it to near 6800GT levels...

Cons: It's cheap. EDID bug. HDTV users might not be able to boot PC. 6600GT outperforms it in most respects.

Other Thoughts: There's a problem with the 6800-series cards that nVidia doesn't seem to be interested in solving. Some displays, mostly all HDTVs, will not function with any 6800. There is an EDID bug that will prevent your computer from booting if you connect an incompatible display. I found this out the hard way.

1. There are three work-arounds. Get a device called the "DVI Detective" - $70.

2. Start PC with a standard CRT/LCD, then hot plugin your HDTV and activate it using the nVidia control panel... EVERY time you boot...

3. Buy a different card.

I went with option three. I will never touch XFX again.

P.S. Is it common for XFX cards to not come with plastic wrapping on the box? Both cards I've ordered have come to me without plastic wrap...

5 out of 5 eggsBoy does it move!

Pros: Excellent price for an AGP 6800 card. Overclocks easily, shaders & piplines open well (my piplines caused pixelation in-game, so turned back off but left xtra shader on).

Cons: Wish my unlocked pipelines had worked better!

Heatsink is somewhat sad, not even memory cooling. If overclocking, buy an upgrade cooler.

Other Thoughts: Coming from my OC'd 5200, this is a DREAM!

Comments: Nice card. Was able to unlock the extra pipes with Riva Tuner with no problem.

I haven't bothered to overclock.

4 out of 5 eggsVery pleased

Comments: This card runs Doom3, Call Of Duty 2, F.E.A.R., Battlefield 2, all silky smooth at 1600x1200 with quality settings as high as is allowed by the texture memory (highest or 2nd highest setting). I've run Unreal Tournament 2004 at 3200x1200 across dual monitors and it's very smooth.
I unlocked the extra pipelines and vertex shaders (not that you need to) and it still looks great.
With the stock heatsink, this card runs at 68-70 degrees C all the time, no matter if you're playing Doom 3 or Solitare. Stock fan is very quiet. This card is drilled with the standard holes so it will accept a standard GeForce waterblock from PolarTec or whatever else is out there.
My only gripe is that the newest nVidia drivers (version 88.something at the time of this review) sometimes crash when you're at the regular Windows desktop (they even did it before I unlocked the pipes) so I'm running an older version with no problems.
This card is a DEAL!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card... Fan Sucks

Comments: Great card. XFX is great.

The cooler for the card is really loud and should be replaced immediately to reduce annoyance!

5 out of 5 eggsWords cannot describe...

Comments: Upgrading from a FX5200, although overclocked to near-death, was just...OUTSTANDING! Pipelines unlocked as well as shaders, but noticed pixilation in BF2, so turned off extra pipleines but left shader on, now looks sweet. Plays BF2 on all high, but AA can really cramp your style, so turn it off, or turn down settings to use. Newegg rocks, as usual. UPS, not-so-rocks.
