Good bang for the buck.
- Pros: Excelent picture and can handle any game as of now on high settings, even Oblivion. Although, I suggest you turn down the grass settings because you will notice a frame skip every few minutes. It's not a big deal though.
- Cons: Not that great of a fan (none of the stock ones are good) Get yourself an Artic cooler for this. Mine now runs at 35 C during gameplay. No HDCP support to my knowledge so when Windows Vista comes out you will need to buy a new card. The x1800 and x1900 have HDCP if you would rather not spend another $300! After getting this, I would have rather had am ATI this time around.
- Other Thoughts: My specs.
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego Zalman 120mm CPU cooler XFX 7800 GT with Artic Cooler 2 GB Corsair XMS Pro 2x Raptor 75 GB Game Drives 100GB Maxtor Quickview Work Drive 250 GB WD Storage Drive Creative Labs X-Fi Sound Card 550W Aero Cool PSU
I scored 3731 on the 3dmark 06 without overclocking anything. Great system build if you would like to copy it!
Died after 5 months.
- Pros: Was the pretty much the fastest card 5 months ago.
Ran pretty much everything smoothly (excluding fear and oblivion(30-40fps) Mine ran 30C idle and 40C load
- Cons: Died after 5 months unexpectedly.
- Other Thoughts: Attempting to send this back for an rma so i can pick up a 7900gt. Hope it dosent die randomly.
Great allround card
- Pros: It's very fast, fastest in it's class. What can I say, if you want a 7800GT, get this one.
- Cons: The fan is a bit loud, and when it gets a bit hot in the room, the fan starts buzzing up and down. That gets a bit annoying...
- Other Thoughts: Beautiful, fast, plays Oblivion at respectable levels and FEAR at high settings.
