In choosing video cards, everyone has preferences and prejudices, and our job here is to help you compare features. XFX and GeForce come together with a card that's ready to take on your worst graphics dilemmas. It features a PCI Express 2.0 x16 interface, 512 MB of RAM with a 256-bit memory interface. The 400 MHz RAMDAC gives you great refresh rates even at high resolution.
The card supports HDTV, Direct X 10, OpenGL 2.0, and it can support thousands of independent processing threads for clear, sharp image performance. It supports high-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), so you can play Blu-Ray on your compatible DVD drive at full resolution.
Featuring solid Nvidia technology, this is a high performance video card that is up to almost anything you put it to. Whether watching HD movies, playing high-speed games, or just graphics work, this card offers stutter free playback and multi-monitor support. Need a max 2560 x 1600 resolution? Then maybe this is the graphics card for you!
Pros: Simply put, this thing rocks. Ran several benchmarks, each one more impressive than the previous. 3dMark 06 score almost doubled to about 8100 from old 7900GT, though I think my proc, is holding it back. Crysis benchmarks run at a solid 30+ fps with high and medium settings w/ 2x AA. Hellgate: London runs in Vista with maxed EVERYTHING solidly. Every other game I've thrown at it with max settings are completely tackled. Easily overclocks to other company's "higher performance" speeds. Currently have mine at 700/1750/2000, saving myself at least $60 at the same level of performance.
Cons: Hmm... not too many, in my opinion. I would have to say the temps of the card concerned me at first, with them pushing 80ºC in Crysis, but after reading further, the temps are well within tolerance. Also, not the card's fault, but the level of availability is very... scarce. If you are on the fence about whether or not to get this card and you see one available, GET IT. Seriously, there is suppose to be a shortage of these until at least late January, according to several articles.
Other Thoughts: This card is the most solid performer in the current gfx arena. ATI's new line, the 3800s, while cheaper, cannot compete with the performance of this things. Athlon 64 X2 3800+ OCed to 2.3GHz, 3GBs of DDR2-667 OCed to 767MHz, XFX 8800GT OCed to 700/1750/2000, 19" Widescreen Monitor (1440x900), XP Pro SP2 and Vista Business.

You won't regret this purchase

Pros: I haven't seen too many reviews from someone that upgraded with hardware similar to mine, so here's my specs -
I had a 7800GTX 256 MB before purchasing this card last week. I was afraid that my other hardware, being somewhat outdated now, would drag this card down and not offer me a huge performance gain. Never has someone been so devastatingly wrong.
I can now run Bioshock at 1940x1440 with everything on high. I used to be able to SOMEWHAT run it on 1024x768 (15-30 FPS average). Now it runs at a consistent 30-40. I know it would run even better if I put at 1600x1200, or something more sane.
I've been overclocking this card quite a bit as well. Yes, it's pointless to do so given just how much pure muscle this thing has, but it's fun, and it overclocks quite well.
Don't hesitate buying this card. If it says "Add to Cart", then you know
Cons: Be prepared to up the fan speed. This isn't necessarily a con, but rather a strong suggestion to get the most out of your card.
If you are nervous about this, don't worry, you can do this right from the standard Nvidia control panel that runs in your taskbar, and you have zero risk of damaging your new baby.
Other Thoughts: It laughs at Oblivion. It thinks the Source engine is a rehashed version of Solitaire. Bioshock? Am I supposed to be scared??
As for Crysis....well, I don't know. I think we're all in that boat. It runs Farcry effortlessly, though!

Great bang for the buck if you can find one

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Comes with Company of Heroes. 3DMark06 went to 11450 from 9100 (8800GTS) on C2D 3GHz/1066MHz DDR2. It has 512MB GDDR3. Pretty cheap considering 8800gts prices and has single slot cooler.
Cons: Single slot cooler is also its con. Fan is really tiny on that thing and configured to run at 29% regardless of load. That makes core run at 90C under full load at stock speeds.
Other Thoughts: You will need to tweak fan speed settings to run it cooler. Or better yet get the version with dual slot cooler, if it will ever be introduced. Of course you can spend extra $$$ and get after market cooler which will make your card more expensive.

Pros: Decent speed, you get what you pay for, mostly.
Cons: Fan had to be replaced. Ok, no problem I contact XFX as suggested by Newegg customer service and the other reviews. Within 3 weeks of replacing the fan and finally getting it running, the card breaks down and everything including the desktop has artifacts. I contact Newegg, they can't replace it. I open a ticket with XFX and unlike with the fan, they are now extremely slow at responding.
Word to the wise, if you ever want to get help from Newegg, NEVER get manufacturer's help, always return it first.
Other Thoughts: Worst buy ever on Newegg, in retrospect at least.
Manufacturer Response:I am sorry to hear that this has happened. If you would, please email me your support ticket number at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com so that I can look in on your case. Thank you.

Beautiful

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: It's a beautiful card. Runs games smoothly on my HDTV with no hitches on the max settings (which is at 1080 resolution since my TV won't go higher).
Cons: I don't know why everyone is constantly complaining about how big the nicer video cards are, it's just standard that cards are bigger nowadays. Jst make sure you have a case that accommodates that. I got a fairly small SIGMA La Vie case and I can fit it in there with no problems and plenty of air circulation. Newegg link to my case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811226027
Other Thoughts: I'll be buying another one of these to SLI when I gather up some extra cash again. :)

Great Bundle

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Bundle included Company of Heroes, driver disc (outdated, but nonetheless helpful), 4-pin-to-6-pin PCI-e power cable adapter, 2 HDMI-to-VGA converters, HDTV cable. Runs TF2 all settings on high at 40-60 fps. Runs WoW all settings on high in major cities at 30ish fps, maxing in smaller zones around 120fps. Oblivion is absolutely beautiful.
Cons: Long card. Almost the length of my motherboard, be prepared to move some cables/hard drives if you have a small case.
Small fan. The fan does not seem to be moving that much air, so make sure you have good ventilation. I would have prefered a double-slot card just for the better cooling.
Other Thoughts: I plan on getting a second one once prices drop a bit more to run in SLI.
