Good chip, bad heatsink

Pros: Once I got the card working it ran like a champ. Runs Oblivion on medium settings with little trouble and runs Medieval 2:TW well on high setting. Great performance for the money.

Cons: Card came with a faulty heatsink. The thing would heat up to about 90 degrees C and then freeze my whole system. I reapplied the heat sink with some Antec thermal compound and got it to work correctly. I've heard of other people having similar problems on 6600GT's.

Other Thoughts: It's a shame Albatron couldn't spend the time to properly fit their heatsinks with some good thermal compound. I don't know if this happens alot but they've lost any future business from me. The 6600GT is a good chip but maybe look at a different manufacterer.

Pros: This this is awesome. I have had this for over 4 months and it is still running strong. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened. I thought the 128 mb card wouldnt be enough but it does its job and it does it GREAT.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Even with a CRT monitor you good great picture but i hate the CRT cause i feel like old school so i decided to get a new LCD monitor and i bet it is going to look awesome.

Not what I expected

Pros: The orginal card sent to me failed after 2 days of use. The replacement card is working but at about the same performance of my old Radeon 9600XT it replaced (at a higher price point). My 6600GT card runs standard at 300mhz core speed and 900mhz memory speed. I thought this card was rated @ 500/1000mhz?
The rebate was a selling point for me to get this card.

Supposedly the card can be overclocked but I'm not going to try that since the issues I had installing the first card right out of the box. I can't afford my PC to be down another 6 days.

Cons: The first card I received was slightly different than the second card. The fan housing differed as did the layout of the card. Neither one was representative of the internet pictures I seen of the card in the reviews I read about the Albatron 6600GT. I have a feeling that I got either returned or second hand repaired video cards for my retail purchase. The documentation that came with the card differed also between the two retail boxes.

Other Thoughts: I can not recomend my card for a purchase given the issues discussed above about this video card. I am going to keep the card but I can't help but feel I got somebody elses return.
