It outruns my computer...
- Pros: This card is insane. I put most games (Battlefield 2, EVE-Online, Half Life 2, and more) to their highest settings and I could maintain 60 FPS without an issue. The only time I would lag was when my processor would have to play catch-up. I haven't gotten a chance to test out the Crossfire though...
- Cons: The fan is louder than the rest of my computer, plus, under even idle load it runs quite hot with the stock fan.
- Other Thoughts: Definitly worth the investment. It's a solid addition to a high end gaming machine. Just be sure you get the processor to also handle what it asks for.
Great Card
- Pros: Great addition, I have been waiting for a price drop to build a crossfire setup. Easy configuration, great performance, I love this setup, Running COD 2, Oblivion, Fear, GRAW, anything runs great on this.
- Cons: Size, it's not very loud, the THX sound pretty much covers and kind of fan noise. But I was dissappointed that the crossfire boards avaliable have 2 PCI slots which only 1 of those slots are actually usable if you have a crossfire setup.
- Other Thoughts: Try to find a board with 3 pci slots, that way you at least have 2 normal pci slots left. I built a system hoping to get a phyx card soon and now I have to wait for a motherboard to come out that has 3 pci slots and puts the pcix-16 slots a bit higher on the board. I'm an avid anti-onboard audio guy so I need a pci slot for audio and physx.
Crossfire, worth the hassle!
- Pros: The cards together are fantastic at delivering high frame rates on complicated titles like FEAR. On Maximum settings, on 1600x1200 I averaged 98fps, and on 1280x1064 it was 112fps, more than enough to cover fluid gameplay. It intelligently decides the best crossfire rendering method (supertiling etc) and works on all games, not just ones "Optimized" for crossfire.
- Cons: When in crossfire mode and not during gameplay but while looking at your desktop, there are rolling lines barely visible, but enough to cause a headache, but it's a five second fix of opening the ATI control center and disabling Crossfire...note, this could possibly be my monitor and not a common Crossfire specific problem.
- Other Thoughts: This product is definitely worth the money.
