Pros: The hardware installed easily and the Win7 Drivers loaded from the install CD without problem. Was able to capture video from my Hi8 video camera fairly quickly
Cons: The Cyberlink software did not recognize the KWorld video adapter. Instead it found my TV tuner card. When I installed Debut Video Software, it recognized the KWorld device immediately. The sound capture was a little distorted. You do not want to use this for HD transfer, only for VHS quality transfers

Rating: 2/5Far from perfect
Pros: Allows for good video quality. I use MPEG2 20mbps. Uncompressed is fine too. No problems with audio.
Cons: I have tried numerous video capture programs but none has given me perfect results. Let me note that perfect for me means: smooth 29.97 fps, no frame glitching, a/v in sync.
I used the latest drivers from KWorld's site with Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio with a Core i3 and 4GB RAM.
Corel VideoStudio Pro: Recognizes device but cannot use.
VirtualDub: Horrible audio (garbled), horrible video (inconsistent framerate).
Debut Video Capture: Good audio, good video, but audio slightly out of sync with video (cannot be fixed with simple time stretch).
Cyberlink PowerProducer & PowerDirector: Good audio, good video, and perfect sync! But random frame glitching...
For short videos, there's not much of a problem, but for 2-hr-long Hi8 tapes, there is significant correction work to be done.
Other Thoughts: Out of the box, the colors and such were off compared to what was playing in my camcorder. Here are the settings I used in the proc amp (accessible in device settings):
Bottom line: This device is good for the price if all you have to do is record short videos from a game console or something. For huge conversion projects involving dozens of Hi8 tapes with hours upon hours of video, I HIGHLY suggest you use something of more worth, like an Analog-to-DV converter. Typical DV uses FireWire, which is much faster than USB2.0. Also, newer video editing suites like Vegas only support capture from DV devices.
There are no "killer devices" for USB video capture but I thought this would be the closest thing. Sadly this device is proving a disappointment as no software can utilize it perfectly. If you have used anything with it successfully that isn't listed above, please let me know!

Rating: 3/5Works okay for now
Pros: Well, it works, but only after a bit of fumbling around. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. Video is so-so. Audio seemed fine despite other reviews to the contrary.
Cons: First problem - Windows 7 64-bit detected the device when plugged into USB but the default driver did not work with the included PowerDirector software or AVS Video Recorder 2.4 (bundled with AVS 6). AVS showed the video but it had a band of lines at the bottom of the screen. I had to install the driver on the included CD to get it to work with PowerDirector, but after that it would not show at all in AVS. So I was stuck using PowerDirector.
Second problem - It took some messing about to get the connections correctly set up (audio and video connections are not auto-detected). It worked okay once I found the settings for changing video and audio input sources in the PowerDirector software.
Third problem - The video formats are surprisingly limited. The best quality I could find was MPEG-2, which recorded at 720X480 aspect, although the recorded picture quality was disappointing. Granted I'm transferring home videos through an analog connection, but still I expected better.
Other Thoughts: I'm using it for transferring old tapes from a Sony Digital 8 HandyCam. When I'm done with that I will probably never use it again. I would only recommend this product for transferring old taped video recordings or creating lower quality video files. Don't expect to use it for high quailty video captures or to do any serious video editing.

Rating: 4/5Hardware Good/Software Bad
Pros: Once I loaded a copy of Debut Video Capture the unit worked great. Worked fine with Windows 7 after downloading the driver from the support site.
Cons: Bundled software sucks. When I first tried to use it, I thought the unit was bad. I wasn't until I read some reviews that figured out the problem was the software. Also while the driver for Windows 7 worked great, I had absolutely NO luck getting hold of anyone at Kworld support.

Rating: 4/5Works with Debut
Pros: This hardware device I bought to replace an old Kworld PCI card which captured with a maximum res of 352x240. This device captures at 640x480 which exceeds the resolution of the NTSC signal being captured.
Cons: Be prepared to load the drivers and forget about using the bundled software. This is 5 star hardware with 0 star software.
Other Thoughts: I have had "Debut" video capture software installed on my machines prior to purchasing this device. I installed the drivers slected the hardware device in Debut and started capturing in minutes without problem.

Rating: 2/5Listen to the reviews!
Pros: Pros? It turned on!
Cons: Not for a live application, drivers are up to date and software is very simple and would work for those who are not to suave with computers
Other Thoughts: Go for a vci with live in the description next time if that's what you intend on using it for, read descriptions and reviews carefully!

Rating: 2/5A Bit Disappointed...
Pros: This is the second one of these I bought from NewEgg. The first, in my Dell (onboard AC97 audio), worked so well that I bought a second to use on a newer machine (Asus board with RealTek HD Audio). NewEgg, as usual, did very well with speedy delivery.
Cons: The news, however, has been bad since I opened the box. The first thing that I noticed was that this time, instead of including Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 and PowerProducer 5, the included disk had versions 5 and 4 respectively.
Other Thoughts: It got worse. I thought the newer website driver would accommodate RealTek HD audio but it does not. The only way I got it to work on XP on my newer machine was to use a PCI slot and plug in an old Audigy sound card that I had in the basement. Otherwise, no audio: EVEN ON XP! I got no audio on Vista 64bit at all - even though I'm dual booting it on my old AC97 Dell! I would be willing to live with this since I hate returning items that offer even a glimmer of hope. But this second KWorld device that I received is now giving me copyright protection errors on home made VHS family movies! I have one more option to try as I plan to build a newer Asus based system just for converting movies. The audio is a headache that I can live with, since I can get around it, but the copy protection false alarm on home made family movies is too much to bear and may force me to RMA this item. Let's face it, there's no hands down winner in this category and I thought I had a contender.

Rating: 4/5Better Than The Dazzle
Pros: I have had this device for more than a year and I think it is better than a Dazzle! I use it mainly for my video games and uploading it to my YouTube account.
Cons: The included software is useless except for the device drivers. Windows Movie Maker 2 for Windows XP works best for me!

Rating: 4/5It works.
Pros: Cheap. It works great when used with decent capture software.
Cons: Included software is worthless.
Interlaced input video. Not a con of the product itself, rather than of the technology used in the input source.
Other Thoughts: Works fine, for the price. Don't expect extravagant quality/resolution out of this thing. Be sure to grab the latest updated drivers from the KWORLD website.
