4 out of 5 eggsGreat for its purpose

Pros: Small unit, solid function, better than decent remote, and the picture isn't bad (it is non-HD, after all).

Cons: It displays what I can describe as not lines, but distortions (vertically). You'll really only notice this if you sit closely It only natively supports 1080x768 resolution, which is fine unless your monitor won't stretch it. Luckily, mine does a zoomed 1:1 so the picture is full screen without being stretched.

Other Thoughts: Don't let my long "cons" section mislead you- this is a great unit. Now I am able to save a lot of space by not having a CRT TV in my room. Great for dorms! The picture issues are really not the fault of the unit- putting cable on a computer monitor will never look great if it isn't an HD signal. I HIGHLY recommend this over some competing products.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: After 10 mos. of Sabrent product that stoppes functioning, this unit is great. All functions are solid as is construction. Easy install and instructions. Very happy I purchased this product.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Channels are numbered correctly unlike Sabrent product that channels were all over the place. I got what I paid for and anyone who wants a solid, correct channel and great functioning unit should purchase this product.

5 out of 5 eggslove it!

Pros: this thing has pros over any other type of tv tuner.
its easy to setup. doesn't require any resources out of your computer. great reception (the extra filtering algorithms it does really make a nice difference over regular tv's)
the picture-in-picture is nice and simple

Cons: only two disadvantages i can think of
1) you can't record tv and store it on your harddrive
2) no dvi output (but thats ok i guess)

Other Thoughts: its worth the extra money

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: I use this to play my video game consoles and so far I hadn't any trouble. The video quality is passable and so is the sound. Really easy to set up, no software needed. Comes with a remote that can configure the way the video looks.

Cons: Blurry visuals. I found different games will look better, but they are all scaled down visually somewhat so you'll never have perfect quality. I can see the pixels on my monitor pretty clearly when playing games with bright areas (not sure if it's the monitor or tuner or both). The sound sometimes stutters (could be my speakers though). Not enough resolutions and not high enough. In some games I will have to change the brightness and contrast just to be able to see clearly.

Other Thoughts: More resolutions would be nice.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very simple to install. A self explanatory product, does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Cons: The blue LED is too bright. Product is highly priced.

Other Thoughts: A little on the expensive side, but for such a simple setup and a product that works without a hitch it is worth the money.

4 out of 5 eggsCOULD BE BETTER. WS LCD DRAWBACKS

Pros: No card needed. Easy Set-up (for average knowedge user). Multiple inputs. Little space needed. Remote Control. PIP w/ Transluscent ability - allowing you to see and click on your PC screen through the TV picture. On-line customer service was quick to answer e-mail questions. Newegg price is best I found by a reputable supplier.

Cons: Only 4 resolution settings accepted in order to use PIP function. Cannot be used with Digital input or digital monitor without analog capability. Instructions/User Manual is not friendly to anyone without some experience in setting up additional components to their computer. Made in Taiwan and instructions demononstrate this point. No Trouble Shooting section in Manual. Customer Service phone number can only be obtained after hunting through website.

Other Thoughts: I was personally disappointed that after investing money in a high resolution Wide Screen LCD monitor w/digital input capabilities that TVBox 9 must be used only in Analog. Be aware that PIP functions only in 4 resolution settings of 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024. A higher resolution setting will result in obtaining only a full screen TV picture if the PIP function is attempted. For those with dual inputs to the monitor (and a pc card with dual capability) the TVBox 9 is a decent setup when the best PC picture is not a must (by using Analog). You will have to change the input on the monitor and resolution to use Digital for the best PC picture, however. Kind of a pain, but do-able. If I had known all this beforehand (especially the resolution restrictions), I doubt I would have invested the money in TVB9 and would have waited until the next version was produced. Not enough dissatifaction to return, but does not meet todays improved technology and expectations to rate higher

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Very easy to setup and use.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is what I was looking for to make use of my old CRT monitors
since I replaced them all with LCDs. The picture quality is better
than alot of regular TVs and the tuner is quiet and quick. The remote
is well made. It has a channel return, which is nice, plus the volume
and up/down channel is all close together. I tested this out on my old
NEC 21" monitor and Cornerstone 21" (19" veiwable each). Im using this
on the Cornerstone CRT monitor with my old Labtec powered speakers to
make a very nice 19" stereo TV. I have my cable going into a VCR, then
to the Avermedia TV Box9, then to my CRT monitor. Also have my DVD player
connected in front. Picture is sharp and the sound is real nice. I am very
happy with this. And as always, NEWEGGs Speedy service and delivery is
first rate.
