Very Happy
- Pros: Inexpensive.
Works perfectly with Beyond TV
- Cons: Only one tuner. Would be better with a dual.
- Other Thoughts: Although you don't get anything with the card, hopefully that's why it's so cheap. Download your own drivers and save a couple of bucks, why not.
Again, that's why it's called OEM...duh.
Reception sub-bar
- Pros: Relatively inexpensive.
- Cons: - Had difficulty installing
- Reception of OTA HD was poor relative to other tuners
- Other Thoughts: I purchased this tuner after I decided that Avermedia's PCIe combo card had insufficient NTSC quality (seperate review.) When I first installed, this the driver installer locked up, and I had to actually move the card to a differnet PCI slot for Windows to recognize it. However, the bigger issue was that it had far poorer reception quality than the the Avermedia Combo card (or the Dvico card I also tried.) Channels that came in strongly (4 out of 6 bars) with the other tuners, dropped to 1-2 bars w/ this tuner. This happened for several channels. It's clear from looking at the boards that the tuner components are different. This one just doesn't work nearly as well. Would not recommend this card to someone unless they are confident they get fantastic reception (or are using Clear-QAM)
false advertising
- Pros: gives the linux geeks something to brag about
- Cons: they falsly claim that this has clear QAM support. QAM support is in hardware only so unless you're a software developer who knows how to write your own windows drivers and PVR software, they are misleading.
- Other Thoughts: with the OTA channels, changing channels more than 3 times will cause the averHD software to lock up and crash. tech support said "the software does have its bugs"...my suggestion, just buy a regular TV with QAM built in.
