Does not work with Portable USB Harddrive
- Pros: Nice concept
- Cons: Did not work with portable hard drive that require power from the USB. It came with a external power supply, but the adapter was not meant for the US.(????)
- Other Thoughts: Why would I want an extra power cable for my laptop?
Solid Firewire Card
- Pros: Put the card in my Thinkpad T60's slot and without having to load any special drivers (under
Windows XP) worked immediately with no fuss and recognized my digital camera. Transfer of video to pc was quick.
- Cons: Requires separate power from slot - adapater has a short cord.
- Other Thoughts: Good bang for the buck - avoid cheapest cards for one that just works.
Poor Performance
- Pros: Many features in a small package.
- Cons: Very, very unreliable.
- Other Thoughts: Honestly, this card doesn't work the way it should. I can't hook up my Creative Zen Touch to transfer music. I had my IOGEAR 160GB external HD hooked up to the firewire port. The port is somewhat loose, and the cable kept losing its connection in the middle of writing files. I've had to reformat 3 times due to this card. Other devices don't want to function properly when plugged in either, i.e. mouse, joystick, USB Stereo, etc. This just isn't worth it.
