3 out of 5 eggsWorks... If you mess around with it enough

Pros: Gives old lappys USB 2.0

Cons: Took a long time to get it working without freezing my XP box. Tech support was /zero/ help.

Other Thoughts: If you got the time, research the web to get this thing working.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks somewhat with XP

Pros: Works as promised

Cons: It isn't digitally signed for XP so sometimes it causes the computer to shut down. Also, the CD says it would work for XP but you actually have to download it from the website.

Other Thoughts: Good spacing between the ports since my usb plugin for a hard drive is quite large.

5 out of 5 eggsUbuntu-No Problem!

Pros: Replaced my non functioning single port with two good ones.
Ubuntu recognized it immediately. No software needed.

Cons: I was worried about a tight fit next to the wireless card on
my old Thinkpad. It went right in, but partially covers the wireless card and slightly reduces the signal. No problem, really.

Other Thoughts: This card gave new flexibility to an old laptop. Even if you have a machine with 2 working ports, you can now have 4.

5 out of 5 eggsD-Link DUB-C2 USB PCMCIA

Pros: Easy to install, A no Brainer. Compact.Does what it is suppose to do. Excellant results compared to the old USB 1.1

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I pluged this into my old Dell Inspiron 8200, and it work as promised right out of the box.It only sticks out from the laptop about 1 inch.Runs any USB device I have attached without using additional power connection. I purchased it to use my new Linksys WUSB300n WIFI adapter on my old Dell laptop. Woks excellant

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great on my Dell C640

Pros: Hey, I popped it into my old Dell C640 that only had one USB 1.1 slot. Now my laptop transfers data to and from my flash drive faster than my USB 2.0 equipped desktop!!!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This item worked out of the box on my C640 with Ubuntu 7.10 and PClinuxOS as well. One is Debian based and the other is Mandriva based. I DID NOT test it with Windows.

I managed to squeeze my typical Netgear wireless card in underneath it. Tight fit, but there seems to be no problem.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well - Easy Install

Pros: Easy install; Works great with iPod Nano.

Cons: May not be compatible with built-in 1394 (firewire). By itself, I'd have given it a 5, but killing the firewire is an issue.

Other Thoughts: I bought this so I could use my iPod with my older Toshiba Satellite 5105 notebook (XP SP2). After reading the other reviews here, I was careful to read the instructions before I started the install. It went smoothly, and I was up and running in a flash. I was left wondering what the fuss was about.

After a few weeks of happiness, I connected my external firewire HDD, and saw the BSOD, and was sent into a boot-loop. Disconnecting the firewire HDD left the system working fine, but it's annoying. I haven't had time yet to try to sort this problem out.
