Hauppauge turns your PC into an HDTV with their WinTV-HVR-1800. This PCIe X1 card has three tuners: FM radio, NTSC, and ATSC/clear QAM. The NTSC tuner is a 125 channel cable ready tuner for all of your standard over the air broadcasts or regular cable TV. The ATSC/clear QAM tuner supports all 18 ATSC formats including 1080i. You can watch the programming live or record it to disk as an MPEG-2 program stream.
There is also an S-Video input with coax audio inputs so you can attach a VCR to copy your old tapes onto DVD. An S-Video to composite adapter makes it possible to use a wider range of machines with the card.
Pros: having this in one of the pci-e slots is great (haven't had a use for those 1 4 and 8x slots yet!). Vista Media Center works great with it. All the stations look great, have very fast channel changing. S-video and audio in, great for running my wii through the system (my pc serves as my tv, movie, game center through a projector), however it took a bit of searching to find the right program that would allow the s-video to just play through instead of being 5 seconds behind for live-tv pausing.. good stuff.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I endured the 'tuner not found' message while trying to set this up in vista mce.. not the card's fault, but after 6 hours of google-ing, I finally found this.. give it a go if you get that blasted message: 1. Press Start+R buttons on keyboard. 2. Type "services.msc" without quotes in box. 3. Scroll down to Windows Media Center services (should be 4 or 5 of them). 4. Make sure they are all set on "Automatic" and enable all of them. These services have to be enabled in order for WMC to work properly.

Pros: Easy to install and setup Works great with media center in Vista
Cons: Can't get FM radio tuner to work in Vista x64 Provided WinTV software tends to go bonkers when you start scrolling through paused TV, to skip commercials and what not.
Other Thoughts: I use this card regularly to tune over the air HD television (ATSC). Picture quality is outstanding. I definitely would recommend this card to others

Works Great

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Works great, fits just perfect between my two nvidia 8800 gt and doesn't cause any spikes in heat on either card.
Picks up regular television, digital television and digital cable at 1080.
The remote was probably the best deal. A nice MCE remote goes for about 30 bucks this was tossed in for free.
I have used this card on Vista 32 bit and 64 bit as well as Windows 7 64 bit all of them work amazing in media center. Media center is able to use all of the features of the card including the FM tuner.
No issues with installation was just plug it in and windows did the rest, no need for any installation discs.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Other Thoughts: This was the third tv tuner card that I purchased the first two under 50 dollars. This one FAR surpassed the others in functionality as well as picture sound. One of the nicest products I have purchased from Newegg

Cons: Windows XP MCE 2005 compatable? Media Center Roll Up 2?
Despite my computer meeting and exceeding all the basic requirements, their faulty drivers nearly crashed my system, made media center unstable, and if my system restore didn't cut it, I'll have to wipe my whole comp to undo the damage.
Their tech support is a joke. I sent pages of info on what was going on, and I never got a response even hinting at a way to solve the problem.
Other Thoughts: I got my return approval instantly from Newegg. I'd much rather have a functional digital card for my PC, but at least I'll get a majority of my money back for this exercise in creating stress.

Worst hardware ever

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Derek Jeter, Hideki Matsui
Cons: The way it was packaged. It didn't pick up digital channels, it didn't pick up analog channels, it can't pick up from a set top box even if I wanted to, the software is the worst software I've ever seen. The support is useless and neither the automated support or live support can help you in any way. It's pure level 1 support and their automated support is simply an FAQ that tells you to check that things are plugged in. Yes, the software is failing because I didn't turn on the computer.
Do not buy this expensive TV tuner thinking it can do any of the things it says it can. Take $100 and eat it.
This card does nothing that it is supposed to do.
Other Thoughts: I am horrified that Hauppauge is an American company. I couldn't dream of worse product.

Other Thoughts: This item is basically useless to me now, I switched to direc tv and got rid of the cable pig. (comcast)
