1 out of 5 eggsBad for Debugging

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I bought this card to debug device drivers, which requires two computers to be connected together with IEEE 1394 connections. After plugging this in and connecting it to the other computer, the motherboard fried. The card is also fried. I tried plugging it into another computer and the computer blue screened on boot. Removed this card and the computer worked fine.

Other Thoughts: Maybe I got a bad card, but it isn't worth returning to Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsWORKS, BUT SAND DOWN THE NOTCH SEPARATOR FIRST

Pros: The card itself is not to thick as other reviewers said.

It's the "U" shaped notch near the right side of the card that is tight. It's the "U" shape that appears 2 times on the board, but you only need to sand one down (the right side one when installing in slot).
Just sand down that part a little and it will slide right in no problem. Sand down the middle of the "U" notch a little.
I don't know if I'm explaining this good. If someone can explain it better do so.

Cons: Just sand the notch a little and you're good.

Other Thoughts: This comes with a cable, you don't need to get one.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Good value for money.

Cons: Instruction sheet is for a different model -- one with an on-board power connector.

5 out of 5 eggsThe RIght Tool for the Right job

Pros: Installed this card and booted PC. It worked immediately, having its own drivers and software are on the card (NO DISK REQUIRED!!).

I used windows MovieMaker and it recognized my old Panasonic PV/GS-9 Camcorder right away. Allowing me to archive old DVC tapes onto DVD and hard disk.

Cons: A lil bit stiff fit into the PCI slot, but that's better than being too loose I guess. Hope I dont have to remove it.

For my purpose, 4 ports is overkill, 1 or 2 woulda been better, but for the price, 4 ports + a cable comes with it..good deal

Other Thoughts: Windows XP Home
Pentium 4 (HP Pavilion a815n)
1.5Gb Memory
256MB PCI GeForce 5200 Vid Card

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine; great price

Pros: Connected older firewire film scanner with no problems.
Easy installation, except see Cons.

Cons: The circuit board seemed a little thicker than standard, so it was a bit of a struggle to get it into the PCI slot.

Other Thoughts: Would still recommend this board.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: It works - great solution for an older computer without FireWire ports. Fits easily in one PCI Slot. No driver hassles at all - just plugged it in and XP recognized it.

Cons: The connectors are really finicky - if your camera's plugged in and you barely bump the cable at the back of the computer, it'll lose the connection. But I rarely have to get back behind the computer while I'm capturing video off the camera, so it's a minor gripe.
