Pros: The only pro this item has is that I didn't need a loan to buy it.
Cons: Complete junk. Had to magnify the instructions before installing it. Followed instructions and EVERYTHING said the drivers I had weren't for this hardware. Tried syba.com and the download also failed. Tried moschip.com and their download failed too. Finally found out that it has KNOWN ISSUES in slot 3. Moved to different slot and driver installations at least saw the card. Devices still don't work from the card, including a loopback dongle. Tried all 6 PCI slots and none make it work. Looked for phone number on syba.com site. None listed for tech support. Saw some rebate number on syba.com and called it. Apparently that's their actual number. After calling the California number and talking to some dude with a heavy Chinese accent, I was told that the card should work fine. Told that everything I confirmed in XP said the card was good. Was also told that it should work unless it's defective. Duh! Call it defective if you must, but Syba does business like a cheap 400k3r.
Other Thoughts: If you're thinking about buying a Syba product, do a few things first:
1) Hit yourself in the head with a hammer and then evaluate if you'd enjoy repeating the experience. The answer to this should be the same as the answer to buying a Syba product.
2) If you're insisting on buying this junk anyway, feel free to send me your money. I'm a more worthy cause and can guarantee that your investment wasn't a ripoff.
We apologize for the inconveniences, sometimes to avoid IRQ or memory conflict you need to move the PCI card to a different slot. You can find the driver on the CD-ROM: \NetMOS\NM9835M\Win2K_XP_2003Server or you can download from the link below. All of our products come with at least 3 years warranty. Please don't hesitate to contact us at support-us@syba.com if you have any problem or question.

Driver installation tricky. Heres how.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Works fine on XP, Linux and DOS, BUT ...
Cons: My second unit arrived and got installed in a second machine. This time XP wasn't so easy. The solution turned out to be to NOT let XP find the driver, but to browse to it on the install CD.
HOW TO: XP picks the wrong driver and tries to install "unusable parallel port." and complains that the INF is invalid. Say no to all offers to find a driver, and MANUALLY browse to \NetMOS\NM9835S for this card.
Other Thoughts: Plug n Play came out over a decade ago. The "instructions" aren't are are microsctopic. When an experienced IT professional takes an hour to figure it out, its too expensive. It wouldn't take much to put Manually browse to \NetMOS\NM9835S in larger print on the cover of the instructions. Or better yet, hire a programmer to write a good installation program.
The NM number is based on which chip is on the card, and whether it is serial or parallel.

Good with XP, DOS and Linux

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Worked immediately with both DOS and Linux. Only Windows XP had to look for a driver, and it found it in its own driver list. Didn't need the CD that came with it.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Ordered a second one.
