Inside the stunning blue housing of the FX700-GLN PSU is a whole host of technically advanced features. The case does more than just look good though, it has a back grill with a hexagonal mesh designed to maximize airflow and minimize fan noise due to air movement.
The advanced design of this PSU gives it 85%+ efficiency. This lets it pour maximum power to the four +12V rails which are rated at 18A each. It is certified by NVIDIA as being SLI ready. So load up your system and mow down your enemies tonight.
That comes from power efficiency and 2 PCIe connectors. There are also 6 SATA connectors, 6 Molex connectors and 2 FDD connectors. So you'll have plenty of connectors to handle whatever peripherals you want to install.

hmmmm,
- Pros: Good power supply, however I overlooked at certain things that I needed to look even deeper when I was going into SLI world. I needed at least 18A within each of the +12 v rails. this thing only had 15A going through each rail. I tottaly overlooked at this. I called evga and they told me NEVER go by the wattage rating on the PSU, always look at the amperage going through the +12v rails, especially in SLI Enviroment.
- Cons: I had this originally running 2 evga's 7800 gt's. then i was getting unsuspected crashes, hangs, etc left and right and called evga and told me its the amperage that wasnt enough through the rails. I then talked to a buddie of mine at the computer shop, he told me to switch the cards around, so far not a dhang problem yet. But I switched to an antec 550 psu for extra stability due to higher amperage through the +12v rails. I couldnt return it cause one of the sata connecter had a crack on one of the outer housing. But new egg gave me a discound on shipping. overall alright experience. never really had any problems with new egg.
To Counting Cards
- Pros: Don't listen to the guy who says it needs 28 amps per rail for 7800gtx sli. That number is for the total amps needed assuming a fully loaded system. By no means do the cards themselves need 28 amps. Each card will draw about 11 amps and each one will draw from a seperate rail (18 amp rails). With 7800gtx sli and an average system, you'll be drawing about 350 watts at full load. This psu is more than enough for such a setup.
- Cons: Can run 8800 series sli (barely), as long as you don't have a ton of hard drives or something.
- Other Thoughts: People like Counting Cards should lose their posting privileges :p

Life expectency
- Pros: Has a really clean pant job. Cables are nice and long and has every cable you will ever need
- Cons: Bought this power supply approx 3 years ago. Today I was sitting at my desk when I heard a loud POP! The power went out on my computer.
DOA
- Pros: The great people at NewEgg took care of me, as always. Thanks to them!
- Cons: This arrived DOA. At first, NewEgg wanted me to talk to the manufacturer about this, so I did. They insisted it wasn't their fault, and I quote "We don't make bad power supplies. All of them ship working. It's not our fault it doesn't work. No refund or replacement is necessary because you're probably doing something wrong." Ok... well, this one didn't work, and after NewEgg RMA'd this for me, and I got the other PSU it fired up first try, set-up the exact same way as this one was and worked... So if it's me and not these guys fault, explain how yours didn't work and another manufacturers did right out of the box? Just admit it was defective, don't say it's my fault. I think I'd know if it was my fault.
- Other Thoughts: Customer service is a joke with these guys. I was very polite in handling the issue, but some guy who could barely speak English put the blame on me. Good call. It's always the customers fault.
Works great when lightly-loaded
- Pros: This is an excellent PSU for stock speed machines with a single graphics card.
- Cons: Squeals like a 10 year old girl who's just been given a free pony when you apply any kind of real load (4870x2 in 3d mode, highly OC'd dual or quad core)
- Other Thoughts: Hasn't failed yet, but man oh man, I'm not going to wait for it to.
JohnnyGURU hasn't had nice things to say about FSP's recent units either, under heavy load they're real dogs.
