Nice Try
- Pros: It works (functionally)!
- Cons: Poor build quality. Case screws were stripped (had 3 different types of screws to hold case cover on), and case was slightly deformed (no visible damage to package, seems like it came this way from the factory). Case was difficult to put back together once taken apart. Drive cable pinches when inserting drive, had to unmount the drive controller when installing drive to keep this from happening. Also, I would have liked for the drive mounting brackets to be metal instead of plastic to help dissipate heat since there isn't a fan in this unit.
- Other Thoughts: I would return this item, but it is badly needed. Since it does functionally work, I'll keep it for now. I definitely will not buy another.
Decent Drive for little $$$
- Pros: Oxford 911Plus chipset. It's not on the spec page, I had to contact them directly to get that info. This is the least expensive Oxford 911Plus Chipset enclosure that I can find. It is IDE, but it performs well, even when I run four of them daisy chained together.
- Cons: Poor construction and quality. One of the six that I ordered had a bad PSU. It is what you'd expect for paying $26.99 for an enclosure.
- Other Thoughts: I'm going to order more of these as the Oxford 911 is a very reliable chip for audio and video capture. Oxford 911 is no longer in production so when these chips are gone, that's it.
- Pros: Firewire and vertical mounting
- Cons: Difficult to align plastic on sides of case
- Other Thoughts: A good enclosure in both USB and USB/FireWire versions, but reassembling the case halves is a little more difficult than it needs to be
