5 out of 5 eggsPerfect For FiOS TV DVR STB

Pros: Cost, Comes with the eSATA Cable, Easy to screw together

Cons: The Lights. Ugly!

Other Thoughts: Bought the to use on my FiOS 7--- Series Set top box witha 1 TB Seagate I robbed out a USB Expansion drive I wasn't using. Followed the setup in the menu, STB rebooted and bang 1TB DVR Storage. Awesome!

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The LEDs were pretty nice, especially the orange light indicating data transfer

Cons: This enclosure failed on me and won't work any more. Be careful with this one.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems

Pros: I have been using one of these for over six months, and I've sold a few others. They work great.
Low price.

Cons: Not the nicest looking enclosure, but they do the job.

Other Thoughts: There are two LEDs that make a nice nightlight. But it is easy enough to pull the connector for one and snip the wire pair on the other if you don't want the light and power draw. The upright stands keep the whole thing cooler. I've been running my laying flat for 7 months with no problem, so it is not necessary to use the vertical mounting feet.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: This enclosure is great I got a PCMCIA to eSATA card for my gaming laptop and moved all my games to the hard drive that this enclosure contains. With a true SATA connection beats USB 2.0 and Firewire with ease. As for the looks, I did not put it on the little plastic rails that it came with, it’s just laying there flat, and the lights look pretty sweet.

Cons: Kind of plastic-like feeling on the ends and sides, but the aluminum guts make it pretty solid. The internal connectors have a rather long cable attached but I managed to squeeze them in.

Other Thoughts: Works great for looks, as for performance I don't have another similar eSATA device to compare to but it’s a simple eSATA to eSATA bridge so I can't see there being a performance hit there. Overall a great product (If you like red and blue LEDs)

3 out of 5 eggsWas nice, when it worked.

Pros: Worked great for 2 years.
Nice lights!

Cons: Died on me after 2 years.
USB is slow. Go firewire instead for big files.

Other Thoughts: Good case for a short run. Don't leave it on too long if you want it to last longer.

3 out of 5 eggsS'allright

Pros: Case is solid, hard drive is securely mounted with screws (as opposed to the plastic tabs used in my last enclosure). Detected by WindowsXP automatically.

Cons: Cheesy (as in looks good to Star Wars action figure-collector, lives in their parent's basements types) and completely useless plastic inserts on the sides showing "cool" red and blue lights. It's a nice solid case that I'm embarrassed to be toting between work and home.

Missing (as other reviewers have noted) any hard drive activity lights.

Other Thoughts: CAREFUL!!! This is an E-SATA-ONLY box. THERE IS NO USB CONNECTION. (Wasn't a big problem for me, as I had SATA internally on the computer, so a simple cable bracket worked fine.)

5 out of 5 eggsCool looking Device

Pros: Cool looking, no instructions needed. Hard drive screws inside once you take off back panel. Looks good setting next to my DVR.

Cons: Red light doesn't flash as drive is being used.

Other Thoughts: Works great with my TWC HD DVR. Installed a WD 500GB hard drive and runs cool.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with SCI-Atlanta 8300HD

Pros: Works simply with plugging it in and turning it on before you plug in the DVR.

Cons: No sound protection. Don't get the Barracuda 7200.10 with this or you'll have to listen to an acorn rattle around in a blender during your movies...

Other Thoughts: Guess I'm gonna have to buy the Samsung SpinPoint to see if I can get things quieter...

5 out of 5 eggsThe only case you need

Pros: This is by far the best eSata case. It comes with a very nice cable that if you bought separately would be a significant chunk of the cost. I have six of these and more coming. I have used a wide variety of drives and they all work.

Cons: This device works exactly as it is intended and does so very well and consistently. There are honestly no cons.

Other Thoughts: For SATA to ESATA I use only these enclosures. If I need SATA to USB, I use the one with both USB and ESATA. I am replacing all my IDE to USB cases with the equivalent case for those drives. This brand is amazingly good.
