Awesome Enclosure. Small Mod Need
- Pros: Well first off this my second one. I ordered the Black version a while back and loved it is so much I had to get another. The enclosure keeps your HD very cool. The no power adapter option is fantastic. Most of the time I do not even have to use the second USB cable for power and I use this on Mac's and PCs. Size and weight are perfect an even the aesthetic appearance of the enclosure is perfect
- Cons: Not too many, but I do have the best solution for what others have mentioned here about the thick foam. My Solution is:
Carefully remove the front bezel by using and pen tip to slight push the little round gray snap in just ever so slightly. Repeat for the other side.
Now that the front is off, remove the rubber bumper from the bezel. Now Take a pipe cleaner and cut 2 pieces the same length and use some Elmer's glue to glue them next to each other inside the bezel where you removed the foam. Wait about 15 min.
Carefully snap the front bezel back on into the 2 little hole on the side of the enclosure.
One more note, if you accidentally break those tabs, just use Super Glue to hold the front bezel in place.
Problem resolved.
- Other Thoughts: These are great enclosures and for the price, you will not find something even close to the size, look and price.
As I say every time I buy from Newegg, you cannot beat their Website layout and there great prices and laser shipping
Great product, even better price.
- Pros: This is a great little enclosure and the price is unbeatable. From out of the box to assembled and working in less then 5 minutes. Fast on USB 2.0 machines. Stayes suprisingly cool, cold at idle and only warm to the touch at heavy sustained load (Fujitsu 20gig drive).
- Cons: Would be nice to have screws holding the bottom end peice in place rather then just clips. I had to do one slight modification to the foam on the bottom end peice. The foam is in place to hold the drive snug however it was just a tad to thick.
- Other Thoughts: Awesome peice of equipment. I had 3 old 2.5" drives laying around so I bought one of these to try.. I bought another soon after.
Perfect solution
- Pros: Very easy to put together and plug and play operation for xp and vista owners.
- Cons: The lock in screws are micro and break easy. the case is a little too big and gives wiggle room if not secured properly.
