Great PSU
- Pros: Fantastic power supply. Lots of connectors and you know Seasonic is among the best you can get. Worth the premium.
- Cons: As others have pointed out the cables are pretty stiff and somewhat hard to work with.
- Other Thoughts: This was my first modular power supply and in hindsight I probably should have gone with a standard PSU. I ended up using most of the connectors anyway.
BAD WARRANTY SUPPORT
- Pros: the "warranty" and efficiency rating
- Cons: BAD WARRANTY SUPPORT, CUSTOMER SERVICE, ETC.
- Other Thoughts: The most recent computer I built in December, I decided to get a top knotch power supply to improve the overall stability of my machine. Because of the 5 year warranty, the efficiency rating and numerous good reviews, I selected this power supply.
BUT this P/S just died on me after 6 months of use in a simple machine with 1 SATA II disk and an ASUS M3A78-EM mobo with an AMD X2 6000+.
I called SEASONIC, an oriental sounding lady answered, she was difficult to understand, finally she said I had to work on this issue over email - kevinh@seasonic.com. Kevin told me to "test" the P/S using a paper clip, the test failed.
Then Kevin told me to complete an RMA request and the document said that I need to pay the shipping of this P/S back to SEASONIC!
I questioned him on this - he said, that is there policy, that other P/S manufactures have the same policy.
This does not sound like a product with a REAL 5 year warranty behind it.
quiet
- Pros: Stable and quiet, makes only a slight ticking sound only if you put your ear to it.
- Cons: Cables are too stiff. Black on black plugs are hard to see even in the best lighting, some orientation markings would be handy, cables/plugs in happy bright colors other than black would be nice too.
