The Thermaltake Toughpower 700W power supply just looks cool! The gloss black finish is near flawless. Too bad it'll remain hidden in your case. Sturdily built, it’s SLI and Dual-Core ready, but really shines in CrossFire testing! Most important in any PSU is the 12V rail supply. Most components pick up off of that rail. The Toughpower has four separate +12V rails so you're guaranteed crisp, clean power delivery. Each one of these four rails can handle 18 Amps of overload before a safety shutdown occurs.
The mirror effect housing, temperature auto control, silent 140mm fan, and Noise Preventive Silicon Pad help reduce vibrations and noise emissions, increase airflow and cooling and, thus improve performance. Universal Input, along with ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V compliancy, ensures that you can use it in a variety of situations and almost everywhere, without worrying about input voltages.
One Main connector (20 + 4 pin), one 12V (P4), one 12V (8pin), eight peripherals, six SATA, two Floppy, and two PCI-E connectors will cover all your components. Four next generation +12V rails support high-end PC systems and twinned graphics cards. This is a heavy-duty, serious power supply designed to bring you enough power for any potential configuration and a great value. Get one today, and let your foes feel the power!
Pros: I picked up this PSU as an upgrade from my 550 watt version since I've added more hard drives and wanted to ensure I had enough power. So far, this PSU has done a great job, keeping just the right voltage and ensuring a very stable system. This is my first Thermaltake PSU, but if this one is indicative of their build quality, it won't be my last.
Cons: It would have been perfect if it had modular cables, but that's a small nitpicky thing.

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: 14cm Fan, Very good efficency, Active PFC, good amp ratings on the lines, sleeved cables, feels like a good quality power supply and performs as such
Cons: No modular cable support, but that's not a big deal.
Other Thoughts: This PSU is everything I hoped it would be looking at the specs. The fan is extremely quiet and varies speed as needed. If you have a system that needs lots of power, this PSU should work well, and with 120,000hrs<MTBF it's built to last.

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: It lasted this long.
Cons: I noticed after 24+months that the cause of my overheating on the bottom of my Antec P180B case was because the fan had gone out of the PSU. This can be the result, however, from dust buildup since I've noticed quite a few of my case fans all going out.
Other Thoughts: Though my case intakes are filtered, the bottom of my case tends to collect dust heavily. I have gone through 3 fans on the bottom, but I never knew the PSU fan had kicked the bucket since it has always been quiet. I cannot blame Thermaltake for this issue, though I have lowered my rating from my 2/2007 review of 5 eggs.

Don't buy this

Tech Level: average - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Great power supply until...
Cons: After 2 years of running well, my PC would just shut off on its own. I finally found out that the fan in the PSU got stuck and would not turn, therefore overheating. I can't RMA it, lost the receipt, so i have to get another PSU.
Other Thoughts: Thanks Thermaltake. You make great quality PSU's, just that the one I got wasn't up to par with what you usually make.

Two Years Still Going

Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Longevity, trusted name, and great pricing. You don't need to spend an extra 100 dollars on those supposed "enthusiast 95% GOLD" PSUs. I've had this PSU for 2 years, running CrossfireX, and it's never let me down. It has a great warranty, and I keep my PC on typically 16+ hours a day. I can recommend this to anyone looking for a great priced PSU that will really last you, and if it doesn't, their warranty service is fantastic, you can see manufacturer responses to half of the poor reviews here.
Cons: I haven't had any problems in two years so I can't list any cons. I will say that those of you who are running really beefy GPUs (multiple 4870 X2s, GTX 295, etc) should look for a higher wattage. I don't know if this model comes with an 8 pin PCI-E connector, but even so you can just get a 6 ping to 8 ping converter cable.
Other Thoughts: Had a very similar TT Toughpower 700 W. that's exactly like this except it only had 1 PCI-E 6 pin, not two. Still, the power efficiency and specifications are all identical. Had to use a conversion cable to get another 6 pin connector. Running 2 3870s in Crossfire for nearly 2 years now, with an E6600 C2D overclocked @ 3.0 Ghz and I have 4 extra fans installed in the case. This PSU has been under heavy load from day 1 and it's still doing great. I am definitely buying Thermaltake for my new i7 build this fall. I was tempted to go Corsair or OCZ, but you can't beat good customer service and product longevity.
