Really great!
- Pros: I have enjoyed this enclosure, though I will admit I am a bit of a junkie for blue lights. The thing feels sturdy once it is put together, though it was a little difficult to assemble. The lights have never flashed to indicate activity, but this is not something I care about. I am very pleased with it and have had it for over a year. I just ordered another one for use with a 1TB drive. Hope it is as good as the first!
- Cons: None.
Breaks Easy
- Pros: Looks neat and works like it says
- Cons: The case doesn't stay together. Its difficult to assemble due to the construction, and then once you have it all together, the thing would fall apart really easily. It would be okay if you were just goign to leave the thing on your deks, but if you plan to ever be relocating this enclosure... Just maybe think twice abou it.
- Other Thoughts: The case was also hard to keep clean. I'm no puthing this as a con, becuase this could be my own fault, but it just seemed like it would attract anything and everything.
Leave the LED's in the box it came it
- Pros: I've had Metal Gear external hard drive cases for years and never had a problem. The old ones are IDE/USBs and since the parts are interchangeable between this and my old ones, I don't anticipate any issues.
- Cons: I never gave the blue lights a chance to work....they were removed BEFORE I even put a hard drive in it. Since this design has perforated sides, the LED tubes and reflectors gave it NO chance for air circulation. The top panel does not contact the top of the hard drive, so there's no "heatsink effect" there. I'll take function over "bling" any day of the week. It would be counterproductive/counterintuitive to have the LED's outlive the hard drive.
- Other Thoughts: It would be nice if there was a molex connector to give me the option of having it work off the computer's PS. That would shut it off when the comp is off.
I've had compatibility issues with other ext. cases with certain hard drives. This brand has ALWAYS worked with EVERY hard drive it's been connected to.
