I'll pass the second time
- Pros: Price, styling.
- Cons: Lifetime. Mine lasted 28 months.
- Other Thoughts: Its a real gamble. It really put me in a bad spot with my workload when it died so I decided to go with an Antec which appears by the user reviews to be a lot more reliable. Like they say... fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
LOW LIFE
- Pros: High power for your power house desktop. Good rails for a bulky computer. Quiet fan
- Cons: Rails are not speced high enough for the NVidia 7600GT; therefore, not high enough for higher end GPUs either. Several occasions i had to manually restart the computer from the motherboard button or had to unplug and reset the power switch on back. At the end I had a few loud pops. For all but the first two months this would not put enough power to my graphics card which caused horrible artifacts requiring me to restart the computer every few hours for gaming(including media center). Bought a new PSU about a month ago and this one finally died for good so I installed the new one.
- Other Thoughts: After talking to BFG & NVidia I tried installing multiple driver versions and reinstalled windows and vista numerous times. Nothing solved the game artifacting issue. Finally found that the +12V rails were way out of range.... nearly .5V over. Then it died finally supporting the conclusion that the PSU was bad.

Manufacturer Response:Hello, Please contact 2support@coolmaxusa.com for further support. This unit comes with 3 years warranty from invoice date. Please understand also that motherboards have power conversions of its own. You may also need to have your motherboard checked for defects. Also, all 12v connectors, regardless of brands, have +/- 10% variance. 12.5v is within variance. Regards, Coolmax Support
Mediocre PS And Mediocre CS
- Pros: Nice finish. Fan speed is functional and something that other PS manufacturers should implement. Mine came with lots of colorfully sleeved cables. Good value.
- Cons: Died after ~ 2 years. Contacted COOLMAX, who first asked for the invoice, then the serial number, then my credit card information (over a plaintext email). Since my billing address is now different from the address I want the PS shipped to, they also asked for a copy of my latest utility bill, even after seeing that the unit was to be shipped to the same address it was shipped to ~ 2 years ago. Unbelieveable.
- Other Thoughts: COOLMAX CS explained to me that they have had problems in the past with credit card fraud, thus the need for my utility bill. Perhaps they should stop asking for customers to submit their credit card information in a non-secure manner. A simple web form with HTTPS is all it would take to remedy this issue.
Nevertheless, COOLMAX stood by its product and honored the warranty. If this product did not have a three-year warranty, I would have been up the creek. Three eggs for an average PS, and one more egg for a risky but successful warranty replacement process.
