4 out of 5 eggsNAS is what I use it for.

Pros: Great product. I am currently using two with a linksys NAS controler.

Cons: Only one complaint and that is that the enclosure does not control spin down. Hence the 4 stars and not five.

4 out of 5 eggsNice product

Pros: Sleek look, low price, aluminum.. doesn't heat that much. I left it running on the side on rubber feet glued for 10 hours and it's a little warm.

Cons: There's a small gap between the hard drive ( WD 250GB ) and the bottom/inside of the enclosure. This makes the enclosure vibrates and humming can be heard. The table vibrates while this thing's on. I inserted a small aluminum plate and the noise is less. But, nothing like my Seaxxx 300GB enclosure that's silent.

Other Thoughts: If it only had a standby functionality like Seaxxx eclosure does, it would be nice.

4 out of 5 eggsOwn two of these

Pros: Bought two for myself after seeing how good the first one is. Each one holding identical 320GB Western Digital Caviar drives, both of these from Newegg (Very good deal). Two of these match very well. Great case, has aluminum body with plastic ends; the front has a metal mesh. Can stand vertically or horizontally. I use to hold and transfer data to other computers. Very sturdy.

Cons: 1. USB cable broke making the device unreadable just after I bought the second one. Not a big problem, these types of USB cables are very common.
2. Rubber footing is very poor; they easily come off. But, if the drive stands vertically, it looks great.
3. Like everyone says, the plastic ends kind of look cheap. Sometimes they don't even match with the aluminum case. But, the metallic mesh front does make up for it.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'd say go for it! Still a good design, very solid, and cheap case. Even if the cable fails, you can buy another one very easily.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good case, cheap, black

Pros: Very good case because it is only $xx bucks. Offers what more expensive cases have, in a compact footprint. I like the fact that it is black. It is also nice that it has a power switch on the back.

Cons: Performance is there, however the plastic ends of the case are rather cheap feeling with gaps, and the switch placement is bad, plus the USB plug should have been a different type, not the mini. Thermal heat can be a problem in bad areas. I probobly destroyed my one 300GB drive several months ago, but I can't prove it. Signs are leading to overheating...Just keep it in a circulated place. I have rubber feet on mine to control vibration and heat underneath (Knitting Needle Point Covers - made of rubber).

Other Thoughts: If you need a cheap case, it works great. Just keep it ventalated, and make sure you have cable slack for the USB cable as it can easily come out.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff

Pros: Great enclosure. The installation of the hard drive was a piece of cake. I have left the drive on for several hours at a time, and the case is still just warm to the touch(as can be expected), and I have seen no overheating issues.

Cons: After installing the hard drive, the case didn't close quite all the way. I should say the end is not a flawless seam. It's only a SLIGHT gap. Maye a millimeter at the widest, but it is still there and drove me nuts for about 2 hours. It doesn't have any effect on the way it works though. Also, the USB cable is only 3' long.

Other Thoughts: This is my first enclosure, and I have to say that I'm very happy with it. This plus a good HDD and you are set.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely perfect.

Pros: Smooth, sleek design, nice fitting for your HDD, and it actually works. This enclosure is my FIFTH enclosure i've had to try, since the previous ones have died or haven't worked right off the bat. I quickly and easily slipped my harddrives into these enclosures, powered them on, and presto, they worked like a charm. The transfer rate is phenominal as well.

Cons: Except for the fact that i'd prefer fans in my enclosures, these things are flawless.

Other Thoughts: The best enclosure i've bought yet. I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's simple, easy to setup, and looks good.

Cons: The case doesnt dampen the noise enough for continuous, everyday use. Keep to the occasional backups

3 out of 5 eggsGood but improve here

Pros: It's plus and play right out of the box no drivers. It doesn't over heat and handles well. I've had this thing running on for days at a time render video from it and back to it and just left it on for almost a week and it kept cool enought to still handle it. It was really warm but not hott.

Cons: The front and read panels are plasic and feel like cheap plastic too. Having the power botton on the back is a real pain at times to have to get up and be able to reach behind it since it's so long! it takes awhile for windows to recognize it.

Other Thoughts: The hadr drive Access light does work it just blinks so fast that it's hard to notice it under normal loads. When it's under a heavy load it's barely noticable making it almost useless.
