5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Build Quality, Features, etc.

Pros: Awesome Quality! Feels very very sturdy and plastic quality compliments it. For price/quality value - u just cant beat this deal. Form factor is made to feel more compact than an i-pod. The borders are polished metal. (Picture in newegg does not show this). The case fits perfect and has opening for USB connection without having to remove the Port. HDD to use it.

Cons: 1)Made for 5 MM toshiba ONLY. WILL NOT FIT 8 mm 1.8 HDD. Will fit but lid wont shut seal. See links to know which toshiba hdd is 5mm. Usually the new ones are. 2) Once Lid is shut - chances are it wont open! U will - but u will also damage the lid. So once u know ur done installing it, make up ur mind and shut it.

Other Thoughts: like what??

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit Toshiba 30GB disk

Pros: Small, sleek

Cons: Doesn't fit a standard 30GB toshiba disk I removed from a 3 year old Sony laptop, model # MK3004GAH HDD1384. The drive slides in and powers up fine, but it is too thick for the case to be snapped on. My drive's thickness (height) is precisely 8mm; if yours isn't at least 3-4 mm thinner, it won't fit. And be prepared to eat shipping costs (both ways) and a 2.25 restocking fee if you take the chance and lose.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat for dead iPods

Pros: no drivers needed, easy installation.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I used this to recover files from my first generation iPod. you can copy the directory off of the drive, or use Ephpod.

Until I buy a replacement MP3 player, I've been using winamp to run the MP3s off of the USB drive without any problems.

5 out of 5 eggsSaved Me

Pros: This worked great with my 1.8" 60GB Toshiba drive. It was easily powered by my Sony laptop (FXA36), which has been known to have a lack of USB power, and was also easily recongnized by my desktop. Both were WinXP Pro computers.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I did not try and put the cover on, as the Motion LE1600 tablet the HD came out of had a rubber shock absorper glued to it. Besides the rubber, it looks like it would fit just fine though. I am using this one tiem only to do a backup before RMAing the failed tablet.

1 out of 5 eggsDid not fit my 50-pin 1.8" Toshiba drive

Pros: It looks pretty slick. It seems like it would work well for a drive that actually fits it.

Cons: The I-rocks website and Newegg simply state that it is for 50-pin 1.8" Toshiba hard drives, but it will not fit my 60gb i-pod video hard drive, which most certainly is a 50-pin 1.8" Toshiba hard drive. The drive is too thick and the back of the enclosure cannot come close to snapping on.

Other Thoughts: I don't really know what hard drives it will work for and what ones it will not work for, you should probably ask the manufacturer before buying it.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works.

Pros: Extremely compact, installation could not possibly be any easier (push the drive onto the bus interface, snap the unit closed), excellent throughput.

Cons: The mesh pocket on the included soft case was quite flimsy and tore VERY easily.

Other Thoughts: I'd have given 5 stars if not for that flimsy pocket, but I'm very satisfied with it, and would recommend this to anyone who needs an enclosure for their 1.8" hard drive.
