Very Quite & Easy to Use
- Pros: The fan is very quite which is a plus in keeping the hard drive cool for longer life. It's cool to the touch - not warm or hot like others that have no fan. Hard drive installation was very easy compared to others that I have bought. Rubber pads on bottom keep it from sliding around.
- Cons: None so far.
- Other Thoughts: This is the third different kind/brand of hard drive enclosure I've bought and is by far the best and easiest to use. No cables to worry about binding or need to tuck out of the way. The power plug slides over to adjust to the particular brand of hard drive you have. I plan to buy another soon!
This enclosure dont worth a penny
- Pros: this item dont worth the money.
- Cons: I bought this enclosure to used in a every day basic. The first two weeks works fine, but after that start working improperly. The fan turn off and makes the hard drive to start spining. I had replaced the hard drive two times already. I call AMS a few times with not solution. My recomendation is to switch to other brand.
- Other Thoughts: Dont spend your money for this.Save time and money
Do not buy!
- Pros: It looks nice and has firewire and USB.
A built in fan also rounds out what should be a great product.
- Cons: However, this enclosure is nothing but bad news. On my unit, the USB and Firewire cords did not fit snugly into the back, so any small movement would make the device disconnect and result in a data error (several times it ended up corrupting my hard drive, which I ended sending back to the manufacturer five different times).
This case cursed any hard drive inside of it. I got to a first-name basis with the RMA staff at Western Digital, that's how bad it was.
If I could go back in time and save myself from buying this I totally would.
- Other Thoughts: I feel like MAYBE you could get a new unit, but the chances of getting a bad one are so high it is very much in your interest to look elsewhere.
