loud but dead
- Pros: 5 year warranty, big, no fans on the side means you can install it into more cases, cables are nice and long
- Cons: loud, so loud you will probably want to send it back the second you turn your system on, not a modular design ( cables not modular )
- Other Thoughts: the downfall of this PSU is the internal layout restricts flow of air. to compensaate this PSU uses an ultra high rpm DELTA fan that is super-loud even under minimal load.
the poor layout not only impedes but because internally the gaps between components are narrow they get clogged up with dust and cooling stops completely in small isolated areas of the power supply resulting in PSU death.
my Kilowatt died under a load of only about 400W in a well ventilated case and never sounded any alarms before i smelled the smoke and a few seconds later heard the PC shut off. dust alone was enough to finish it.
im using a different brand PSU now and NOT sending the Turbocool for replacement because frankly, im tired of the noise.
my new PSU ( different brand ) is also 1000W and 85% efficient but it is ALMOST SILENT and runs COLD it is also MODULAR and cheaper to boot ...

Best of the Best
- Pros: Enough power for future projects. Endless power. Quiet under full load, Makes my highly overclocked system stable as can be.
- Cons: Price but you do get quality for this price. I weighed this unit and it weighed 9 lbs.
- Other Thoughts: I had the PCPowerandcooling 750 silencer quad series and it didnt have enough juice under extreme loads for past 5 hours of online gaming. The 750 idled quiet but under load the fan was louder than this 1kw SR model. Do yourself a favor and just buy the best and forget the rest. I should have bought this unit first and stopped second guessing my system.
I have EVGA 680i, MB, 8800GTX SLI, Koolance PC4-1026 case watercooling, Corsair 9136 ram. Every piece that is overclocked is overclocked so power demands are high. The 1kw SR doesnt break a sweat where the 750 would crank the fan on constantly to keep up for peak usage. Never again will I buy second best when it comes to power supply regardless of cost.
