Pros: Works with older vga monitors as advertised STARTECH site and tech support are great!
Cons: Newer LCD monitors use DDC2B standards that allow for communication back and forth between the monitor and the video output card. The ST122LE may support DDC2B on port #1 but it apparently is not fully compliant. Unit will not work on Dell E207WFP and E228WFP monitors in 1680x1050x 60hz mode.
Other Thoughts: The newer monitors use pins #4, 9 and 11 in the HD15 connector for communication in some cases. It is common for pin#9 to not even be wired or present in older vga cables. This problem usually presents itself as an error message stating that the monitor can not display the chosen resolution. STARTECH says the ST122PRO would be better choice for these monitors.
