Quality from start to finish
- Pros: Everything about this power supply simply oozes quality. The fans are powerful, at a very acceptable noise level. When teamed with the OEM AMD heatsink, the heatsink is the louder of the two. The finish on the powersupply is unusually exellent. The braiding is very well done, and the SLI/EPS/VGA Power cables use a rubber sheathed shielded cord. The AC power cord is also done up in this style. Forced air cooling was a key design consideration in this PSU. There are no vent holes besides the intake and exhaust fans, this gurantees an even level of cooling across components, without having to worry about cable or side panels blocking vital intakes. The fan guards are nicley decorated with dome shaped badges, which also help maintain clearances around the fans. The power supply delivers the most rock solid voltages. With an Athlon 64 x2 5600+, 2048MB ram, 8800GTX 768mb, and 2 hdds, the power supply rail voltages are +/- less than 1/2%
- Cons: Does NOT have 4 6-pin PCI-E connectors as specified here o newegg. It has only 2; the other connectors are for EPS style mobos. The cables are sheathed up to the first connector for the peripheral power cords, but the wires are then just twisted, resulting in an unfinished look for the last connectors in the chain. The documentation is somewhat lightweight, given some of the very unusual features and capabilities of this PSU.
- Other Thoughts: A very solid power supply that simply shines with an unusually high quality. Very refreshing given the industry history of cutting corners and making the product cheaply as possible. I can heartily recommend it for just about any rig, just short of an SLI 8800GT*. There is a 1000+ watt version that is much more suited to that kind of power sucking monster.
