  • newegg AMD64 Dual-core Technology AMD64 is designed to enable simultaneous 32- and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. With dual-core technology there are two complete processor cores in one physical package running at the same frequency to deliver TRUE multi-tasking power, allowing users to switch from one program to another without pausing for the computer to catch up and reducing annoying processing pauses.
  • newegg HyperTransport Technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency and point-to-point link designed to increase communication speeds between integrated circuits in computers, servers, embedded systems and networking and telecommunications equipment. With HT technology the Athlon 64 X2 5000+ AM2 processor enjoys up to 2000MHz system bus speeds and delivers a maximum of 8GB/s I/O bandwidth and 20.8GB/s processor-to-system bandwidth.
  • newegg CNQ: Cool'n'Quiet Technology AMD's Cool'n'Quiet technology is an innovative solution available on AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems that can effectively lower power consumption and enable a quieter-running system while delivering performance-on-demand.
  • newegg Enhanced Virus Protection All AMD processors equipped with AMD64 technology are enabled with Enhanced Virus Protection. Enhanced virus protection acts as a preventative measure causing viruses to be localized, short-lived, and non-contagious, then viruses are flushed from system memory.
  • newegg AMD Virtualization Virtualization on desktop computers allows a single PC to act like multiple virtual machines. AMD Virtualization can enable client computers to seamlessly support multiple operating environments. 5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Flawless performance. Though I don't get the full benefits from a dual core running Windows XP Pro, I will when Vista doesn't actually suck. So in a sense, upgrading to Vista will be like getting a whole new computer since I'll be running true 64 bit. haha

Cons: Not getting to grasp the full potential of my CPU :(

Other Thoughts: Athlon 64 x2 5000, M2N-SLI Deluxe, 1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800, XFX 8600GT 256MB, 250GB WD

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bought this back in December. Very fast. Moved up from a 3500+. Idles at 35C, which isn't bad on the stock cooler in a room that badly needs some A/C.

Cons: With a clock speed of 2600, this means that it has an odd numbered multiplier of 13. Giving it a memory divider of 6.5 (13 divided by two), but since 6.5 can't be used as a divider, it rounds up to 7. So 2600 divided by 7 = 373 Mhz, or 743 Mhz DDR. So your memory ends up being slightly underclocked instead of running @ 800 Mhz.

Other Thoughts: Even though the underclocked memory doesn't falter your speed, you can easily overclock to 2.8 GHz, bringing your memory back to DDR2-800. Dual-Core Optimizer and latest drivers are a must.

5 out of 5 eggs"if you blink youl'll miss it"

Pros: a lot faster than my 4200+, runs vista great. I can have 5 programs running and it will be at less than 15%. it instals programs 2x as fast as my 4200.

Cons: Its hard to keep up with so many good processors amd is coming out with, this one is getting old fast.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor, Over Kill

Pros: Its a really nice Processor, I do things like Video editing and gaming and I can say that It handles everything that comes at it really well, On almost all applications (except pure data processing, like video editing) It never peaks to 100% CPU and I do alot of multitasking.

Cons: Nothing really, Would like 1mb L2 Cache though.

Other Thoughts: Great processor. Some reference, It can do streaming High Bitrate Stream H.264 encoding easily, and you won't see a game slow down because of lack of processing power. (Oblivion, HL2, CnC3)

5 out of 5 eggsSPEED

Pros: Moved from a 4600+ after two boards died on me. Only a 200Mhz clock increase but better architecture!

Cons: Isn't free. Coffee pot still needs cleaning.

Other Thoughts: To the guy who asked about a board: MSI K9N Diamond. Great for gaming due to dual PCI-E 16x slots for fast SLI and double ethernet with managed data queing.
